Slash: Guns N' Roses should reunite

Source: http://www.therockradio.com/

Slash wants Velvet Revolver to stop playing songs by Guns N' Roses and Stone Temple Pilots -- even though he says those bands should reunite. The guitarist recently sat down with the Brazilian branch of MTV, and while he said nobody was really thinking about any reunions, he added, "I'm not saying never. You know, I was saying it would be a good idea to get, just for a couple of shows, to get the original STP and the original Guns N' Roses just to do a couple of shows for the fun of it."
He didn't say when these theoretical dates might happen, but it's worth noting that Velvet Revolver has a U.S. tour that starts May 4th, while Guns N' Roses continues their world tour on April 27th in Johannesburg, South Africa.
In related news, Slash also told the Chilean magazine Rock & Pop that Velvet Revolver will drop the GNR and STP songs from their setlist later this year. He said the band will still play that material on their current run of South American shows, because Velvet Revolver has never played South America before, but the plan is to drop the older music as they incorporate new material from their upcoming Libertad album into the live show.

Libertad, Velvet Revolver's second album, has had its release pushed back from early June to later that month. The album's tentative first single is called "She Builds Quick Machines."
Bassist Duff McKagan said in a recent interview with Kerrang! magazine that the group had a hard time starting work on Libertad after a vacation of several months. He explained, "It was really, really tough getting us back together into a place where our headspace was right to be able to start a new record. We were all pretty fragmented... It took us a while to get back to where we were feeling good, and we finally got that back last July and August."

If Slash really did go to Axl's house in 2005 as Axl claims to tell him "I hate Matt, Scott is a fraud and Duff is Spineless," I get the impression that Slash would like to reform the AFD or UYI era band. If Chinese Democracy bombs and Libertad doesn't outsell Contraband, maybe the reunion will happen.

For now though, Axl owes it to himself (as well as the new band) to see the Chinese Democracy project through.

I dont want Slash coming back till at least 3 years after chinese democracy,
as Axl owes the success of that record to only himself and his fellow bandmates, and to Have a reunion with slash now, It would
be like saying , f ..u Robin, fortus and thal, Your not needed anymore,

etc,

agreed.

And I agree, it would be a huge "fuck you" to guys like Robin and Tommy who have spent almost of a decade of their professional musical career on this beast and we have yet to see the album or anything.  These guys have taken a lot of criticsm and a lot of shit simply because of who they replaced and deserve to get some recognition.   Axl would not sell his mates out that way, no way in hell.

there is a thread for this in the VR section.

If Axl was ever going to do something like this, that would be it for me. I'd not support the band anymore.

Why, after all the negative talk they have done about Axl, are they now saying this "we should reunite, I love Axl" bullshit ?

Makes me wonder about that early morning visit ...
