It burns when I pee...

« on: March 02, 2007, 11:30:47 AM »

I've just been re-watching footage of recent gigs, and it got me thinking how much Axls style has changed over the years. In some ways good and some ways bad. I couldn't understand some of his decisions. So I had a question - mainly for the girls and homos on the board : did those little tight white shorts he wore in the early 90s, you know, turn you on or something?

I'm trying to see whether he was trying to branch out his audience, and appeal to a broader fanbase - to attract the interest of girls and 'men who like men.' (I wasn't sure what term to use  - is homo offensive in america? If so - no offence intended.)

Actually, he wore those white shorts (the tight bike shorts, right?) because he used to ride his bicycle to gigs.  And, if you do some research, you'll notice that many of the gigs he was late to involved an uphill ride.

Well, that's my best guess, at least.  peace

Yes!  I thought the bicycle shorts were nice,  wait... I don't think it was really the shorts, it was "Axl" in the shorts!!

I thought the kilt and umpire's vest were cool,  the shorts were said to be used because of all the running axl does on stage (yeah jeans or leather pants and cowboy boast wouldn't work). He doesn't run that much today. But while he was using those shorts onstage he was wearing his  jeans pulled up to his tits offstage I always thought that was weird.

I thought it was Axl responding to the backlash of the super tight stuff he wore in the 90's by wearing over-sized clothes on the 2002 tour, but it's good to see him finally wearing clothes that actually fit him these days.

Agree, he's in good shape and seems to be enjoying himself. ok

Early in his career, Axl's poor sartorial sytle was part of his appeal. It was a real punk move. But, when your 45 it looks a little lame, so he has had to upscale his image. Take the 2002 tour for example, he was wearing the oversized football jersey's he had worn during "Use Your Illussion". It seemed real contrived.
