Epic songs on democracy

?It?s like, all the stuff I heard was phenomenal. I didn?t get a chance to listen to all of it because I was pressed for time. But also I wanted to hear the things I hadn?t heard yet. Some of the stuff had been done a while ago and hadn?t changed much. I didn?t really bother with that. But I wanted to hear all the new stuff and I heard about six things that I hadn?t heard finished yet. They were mind-blowing. A few of the songs are pretty epic in length, but that?s always been GN?R thing, hasn?t it? I don?t think it?s a particularly long album, but I think the six I heard are pretty epic. I mean they are just?.fucking huge, you know. I think pretty much all of us in the band have some songwriting credits on just about everything. The undertaking was pretty much a large collaboration between eight people. Even a couple others who aren?t around anymore but maybe started with pieces of the old band or whatever. But yeah, there is probably a lot to go around with that one.? ? Tommy Stinson (September, 2004)
i know this was a couple of years ago but i hope this quote still holds true because i dig songs like estranged november rain coma civil war locomotive that are epic in length and how the style of the song changes many times throughout the song
What do you think about this quote and if u think it still holds true?

I think this quote holds even truer today than it did then.
The reason I say that, is I believe CD will be much in the same vein as the UYI albums. I do feel some songs will take a 'different' sound unlike anyone has heard, but I think it will be material from all directions, with a traditional but modern rock sound. And the reason I say THAT, is because I think some of the sounds they were tinkering with in the late-90's/early-2000's have really come and gone. Such as the industrial & techno elements. Right now, the music fan seems to actually be going back in time to find good music, and at this point, it could just be a straight rock album, and I think people would enjoy it.
I think there will be some epic rockers and there will be some epic ballads.

Coma is one of my favorites, and I always dig long tracks, as long as they aren't repetitive. Come goes soft and hard and then a solo and...yeah, all over the place...in a good way. If you're not going in a bunch of directions, that's fine, but keep it short and to the point.

I totally agree with that. Plus I especially prefer guitar-based epics, not so much piano-based ones.

"Epics" are pretty much a staple of any GnR album at this point...from Rocket Queen on AFD to Coma, Estranged, etc. on the Illusions, I think it's a given at this point. I'm sure we can expect at least one on CD, if not more...
