Now is the time to reflect back upon the stunning achievements of one Gilby Clarke, singer/songwriter/guitarist/producer. Spitfire Records will do just that with the January 30, 2007 release of "Gilby Clarke". The album includes 14 tracks from his muscular solo catalog, two from his days in the criminally-ignored COLONEL PARKER with ex-STRAY CATS member Slim Jim Phantom, and one re-recording of "Black" with "Rock Star: Supernova" finalist Dilana.

CBS-TV's "Rock Star: Supernova" put the former GUNS N' ROSES guitarist (he replaced Izzy Stradlin) in a band with METALLICA/VOIVOD bassist Jason Newsted and M?TLEY CR?E drummer Tommy Lee in a reality-show search for a lead singer. The show proved so successful, Gilby will be hitting the road with a touring version (with TRAIN/BLACK CROWES bassist Johnny Colt and winning singer Lukas Rossi) kicking off in Las Vegas on New Year's Eve.

This versatile guitar slinger, who feels as comfortable with Axl Rose as he does with Nancy Sinatra, Michael Jackson or the MC5, has also produced L.A. GUNS and others. His career has been marked by a singular devotion to no-frills balls-out rock, whether he's producing, singing his own material or collaborating with a wide assortment of artists.

"Gilby Clarke", the album, derives its strength from its sinewy sonic dexterity, as taken from his catalog of meaty solo albums "Pawnshop Guitars" (1994), "The Hangover" (1997), "Rubber" (1998), "99 Live and Swag" (2002). An eclectic and eccentric vision emerges on "Gilby Clarke", bound together by a no-bullshit vernacular. This is one tough brand of no-nonsense muscle.

"Gilby Clarke" track listing:

01. Cure Me Or Kill Me
02. Tijuana Jail
03. Black
04. Skin N' Bones
05. Wasn't Yesterday Great?
06. It's Good Enough For Rock'n'Roll
07. Punk Rock Pollution
08. Kilroy Was Here
09. Bourbon Street Blues
10. Can't Get That Stuff
11. Dropping Out
12. I'm Nobody
13. Alien
14. Judgement Day

Still think that "Pawnshop" , as an album, will be better than the solo collection.
My favorite song is "Shut Up". Love that  guitar solo!!!

I concour. Pawnshop is one of my all time favorite albums. My favorite is "Skin and Bones", I just long that song.

As for Dilana, I'm not excited about her re-recording "Black" either.  I wonder if she even heard the song b/f she was on rockstar.

Books are useless! I only ever read one book, ?To Kill A Mockingbird,? and it gave me absolutely no insight on how to kill mockingbirds.

I think she had, she did say that she was a huge fan of Gilby

I've owned all the Gilby albums, that's a good selection of his best-I felt his best albums were the early ones, of course Pawnshop guitars was his best, I really liked the Col. Parker album also

I don't mind Swag, I think it's an okay album.

The cover of Diamond Dogs is pretty nice.

Yeah, same. Apart from the lack of '99 Live material, I think it's a good collection.

does anyone know if this is coming out on the 20th or the 30th?  gilbys website says it comes out on the 20th, but this article says the 30th, which i guess makes more sense seeing as the 30th is a tuesday.  thanks for the help!

New music and movies(DVD, not theater) come out on Tuesdays, so what ever the closest Tuesday is.
