Ottawa concerts that rocked '06
By ANN MARIE MCQUEEN -- Ottawa Sun

I picked four big, accomplished acts for my favourite rock shows of 2006. After all, they don't call them entertainers for nothing, and though some people might prefer grotty clubs and up-and-comers, I'm a rock spectacle girl myself.

Guns N' Roses, Scotiabank Place, Nov. 18 - 4 1/2 out of 5

Guns N' Roses, which is really just Axl Rose and a bunch of excellent guitar players, had to be the best show of the year. And that's coming from one dead sober music critic surrounded by 11,000 drunk people who had to stop boozing when the bar closed at 10:30 p.m. and wait until after midnight for Rose to actually perform. The 44-year-old put on one bad-ass rock show, riveting from start to raucous, fireworks-laden Paradise City finish.

GNR was the top concert of the year in Ottawa peace

Catcher In The Rye

I guess I could post this here:

Axl Rose is saying that the long-delayed Guns N' Roses album, "Chinese Democracy" may be coming out in 2007. He wrote on the band's Web site www.gunsnroses.com , "This is not a promise, a lie or a guarantee, but we do wish to announce a tentative release date of March 6". So there is hope. In the past, the album would be just postponed indefinitely, now it has at least a tentative date. There is absolutely no reason to think it won't. In the open letter to his fans, he also included the breaking news that the band has split from its manager, Merck Mercuriadis, and it's never hard to move ahead with a new album while management is being changed.  "Chinese Democracy"  is the first GNR album since it's 1993 "The Spaghetti Incident".  It's been in the works for over a decade. One thing is for sure, he has the support of his faithful and devoted fans.
