not exactly what I was saying, but there's no other way to illustrate it but this way..

I was saying that it's pathetic, but in fact the big part of the new bad's (and by band I mean all 9 of them), fans are kids from iowa...
and despite the fact that the band is playing for the people that are at that moment in the arena, the people in the arena are not the fans of the new lineup,
because a person who doesnt know the lineup, cant be a fan of it, and since most of them didnt hear the new music, they cant be fans of the new music either.

technically only kids from iowa (except "Downloading motherfuckers" -which I guess is a good), are the fans of the new band, and it wont change...
well not anytime soon..

and ah...
fuck it....
it was a lame thread to start with...
even I dont know what I was trying to say anymore... ;(

he was just saying if you are not going to the shows,  you have no right to bitch about the setlist....why in the world would someone who does not go to shows care about what songs are being played at the shows they are not going to?

It could matter for different reasons. Say you're going to a later show, isn't it fair to express your concern on the setlist you'd probably hear? Or you could think the current setlist would hurt the attendence of the tour, since you don't want your favorite band to fail, you're a little worried.

There are many reasons why a die hard fan can feel disappointed with a setlist to a show they didn't attend.

I agree.

I know what he was saying, but I say weather he likes it or not those Iowa Kids are bigger fans than most people in the audience!!!
!!!1!!!ONE!!!11ONE!!!

You sound like a broken record.

Imagine buying concert tickets and travelling to a show, then finding out the artist isn't actually playing for you. Instead he'll make one guy in Iowa happy by playing his favorite songs. Fuck the 15000 people in the arena who actually spent money on tickets. Play for that one guy who's not there because he's your "biggest fan".

Most artists don't play concerts for their "biggest fans" who aren't there.... It makes perfect sense.

/jarmo

You think the regular fans want to hear only Appetite? If Axl would play in venue X WTTJ, SCOM & PC, in venue Y WTTJ, P & PC and in venue Z WTTJ, NR & PC would the regular fans and the KII be happy Wink

Also, most people in the crowd don't know who are playing, in Helsinki there was someone singing Wild Horses during Finck's & Fortus' solo, FFS, the KII does know who are. KII also would attend every concert he could despite the setlist but still he would like to see it change.

It all comes to this, KII is a bigger fan than most people in the concerts. How couldn't he be, he cares enough of the band to check every concerts setlist, even he didn't attend them.

As long as you know it was a lame thread to start with then all is ok.   Wink  I've been a fan of this band for well over half of my life and I go to concerts, download\collect live shows, download leaks, listen to MOSTLY the new band these days and I don't bitch about the setlist.  So does that mean that I'm not a "real" GN'R fan because I don't OBSESS over the songs they play each night?? Because I don't bitch like the "fan in Iowa" about everything that this band does or doesn't do??  I think there is a difference between being OBSESSED with a band and being a fan of a band.

I don't think the real fans of the band CONSTANTLY have to bitch about something the band is doing wrong.  To me that is on the verge of obsession.  If someone is just a fan of a band and it's music, then what the hell would be the point to constantly bitch about something you have no control over??  Is it because those people are so obsessed with the band that they think they have control over everything that happens?  I have so much shit going on in my life, as I'm sure plenty of people here do, that I don't have time in my thoughts to worry about if Perfect Crime might be finally played tonight or "if CD doesn't come out this year then I will die."

A real fan voices their opinion, whether it be good or bad, but doesn't dwell on something for weeks at a time and actually let it ruin their day.  THERE ARE PEOPLE here that seem to live through this band and that is sad to me.  If this band didn't exist then these certain people would have no reason to go on with life.  THAT MY FRIENDS IS OBSESSION.  If I'm wrong then explain to me what I am wrong about PLEASE.  It's no different than when a guy or girl is obsessed with another guy or gal.  They think they cannot go on if this certain person is not in their life.

If CD doesn't come out this year it will suck but it won't be the end of the world like some of you think.  I won't STOP listening to the band or threaten to "only download" the album when it's released if it's not out by Dec. 31, 2006.  I won't sit here and cry that, "Axl broke his promise to me, he promised the album would be out."  That's stupid because afterall it is only an album from a band that we are simply "fans" of.  It should be nothing more than that.  A release date shouldn't determine whether I eat today or starve myself.

My point is that being obsessed doesn't make you a bigger fan than everyone else.  Just because GN'R is your entire life and you have nothing else, doesn't mean you are a bigger fan than any of us.  I'm a huge fucking fan of this band and love the music, the energy, the history and just about everything else about GN'R, but I won't let a band that I am not even in, ruin my days because of what they do or don't do.  I'm a big fan and not an obsessed crazy mother fucker like so many here.  There is a line that divides those two types of people in this forum.  The biggest fans of GN'R in the world are the people of this forum that are just like me.  The ones that aren't preoccupied every single second of the day with a thought of GN'R in their head.

EDIT:  Oh and Lucky, this wasn't directed towards you personally.  I was just making a general statement and the people I was talking about will know who they are.

Of course to be a fan you don't need to complain about anything but GN'Rs current state is very complicated so accepting blindly everything Axl does is just supid.

And, yes, it's extremly stupid to do "downloading-oaths" etc., that's negative obsession (to come here daily only to complain when following the band/Axl on daily basis is very obsessed but in a good way, IMO.

It's a good thing I didn't say that then, right??  If you re-read my message I said, "A true fan voices their opinion, whether it be positive or negative..."
