Nothing ever truely comes back, its all nostalgia.

Some bands from back then were awesome and had their careers end too early because their brand of music fell out of favor. Other bands deserved to die.

Does anyone remember the pics from the Hammerstein pre-party at Mustang Harry's?  I ask because my brother-in-law Paul was the one with the tats all over his back with a huge "'80's Metal" scrolled across his upper back with all the band names you guys have mentioned so far in this thread!  Personally, I think GNR transcended hair metal, and created something quite original.  GNR's mysterious journey that continues today proves they are truly one of a kind!   Cool

Since when was Baz or GN'R, hair metal? Have any of those jackasses over at RS ever listened to GN'R or Skid Row's music?

Anyways, good for Cinderella returning... Poison, you guys need to just go away. You were way past "it" a long time ago.

Def Leppard isn't metal, and never will be. It's pop-rock folks, and i'm never changing my mind. 'Photograph' is about as metal, as Michael Jackson's 'Smooth Criminal'.

See if you actually lived through this era as a teen as I did in the late 80's, these bands really were sort of lumped together, even though they produced different types of music.

We watched Headbangers Ball and read Rip and Metal Edge Magazine

Hair Metal isn't really meant as an insult, it is just a general lumping of music that emerged at that time (and of course how can we forget Axl's very own hair in Welcome to the Jungle)

Most of those bands faded with that time and it is probably better off that way but GNR was indeed one of the few that was able to transcend the image entirely

Baz/Skid Row was definitely considered hair metal back in the day, in fact I even saw them open for Def Leppard hihi

Well, then again, Hair Metal didn't become a dirty word until after the genre died.
