This Never Happened, It's Just a Dream...

« on: November 01, 2006, 08:16:00 AM »

This morning I was watching MTV for some reason (well I am sick)... I saw the new Jay Z video... I am a fan of his past stuff, but boy did it suck ass... It was bad and not it a good way... Next was a Justin Timberlake video... There was like no music, but people poorly dancing... Then Justin Said a few words once and awhile... This sucked major ass... Then there was a 12 year old white girl attempting to rap in the next video... This sucks, turn the channel... If this is the competition for Chinese Democracy, Axl the time is now... No one can even touch you at the moment... Not even the Killers (original inxs wannabes) even though you think they are cool...

Because the two music videos you saw on MTV are representative of the entire scope of music today?

Damn straight. This is a perfect time to release a killer rock record. Better will rip the charts, if that's the first single.

I can't even describe how much I look forward to this. Imagine going to a bar/club and hear a new GN'R song, and everyone on the dancefloor loving it.

Come on Axl, just do it. You can't fail. Wink

I dig what you're saying...the music out there today just doesn't excite me at all...the occassional catchy song here and there but most times I could give a rats ass about buying ?their cd or anything. ?However, I still get a rush when ever they play a classic Guns song on the radio. ?All the bands out there seem to just try and mimic one another...there is not too much originality anymore...and those who are original end up being copied by some band down the road anyway. ?The last time I got excited about a non-Gn'R song was when I heard Van Halen's "hot for Teacher", there is just something about that song that gets me going. ?Anyway, bring on Chinese Democracy and like the thread says: Let's smoke the others!

In America, yes...

Try england, we have a computerised frog that makes bing dong ding dong noises in the charts, it even got to number 1 once for one of it songs.

Then we have all these silly people attempting to act like they are from america in the early 1990s however they just suck at it and make stupid annoying music.

People think rock music is a bunch of people with black long hair roaring out random crap like they have flem in there throats.

so yeah....bring on gnrs new album.

QFT

I heard November Rain last night and I can't think of any band in the mainstream today capable of pulling off something as great as that.  The threadstarter has a point.  Better is what I want as the first single, imagine how much that song will kick ass, especially in today's climate of talentless idiots attemptin to make music.

Sadly the frog did a remix tune of the Axel Foley tune (Beverly HIlls Cop).  I don't think it is actually called Axl or Axel - regardless it should be destroyed as inhumanely as possible for crimes against all humanity

been to a Helloween event last night.
they had 2 floors, one was "pop" and the other was "hard", and both floors played total of 4 GNR songs(2 + 2), that I've heard (since I couldnt be all the time on both floors).
KOHD, PC, SCOM, Patience. People really enjoyed it.

the other day on the radio came some new song i dunno what its called (i dont want to either) but it goes "my name coming from the lips of an angel it sounds so sweet it makes me weep" i wanted to hang myself. it was sooo cheesey. i dunno how CD will do (i think guns n' roses fans speculating on its success/potential is biased beyond belief and not even worth a thread), but this thread just reminded me of how terrible that song was. fuck it was bad.

LMAO!  I think that song is by a group called Hinder and I agree that it is pretty fuckin' poor.  I wish I could hear "Better" on the radio as often as I hear that damn song.

UGHHHHHHHHHHH  I hateeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee that song!  Every chick on myspace has that as a background music.  I had no idea that was Hinder.  It makes me want to hang myself as well.  The state of music today is very sad indeed.  I hope the world is ready for another Rock Revolution!

I like all kinds of music, and I like to listen to regular ol' FM radio and flip through the stations to hear what's out there... ?But the stuff that passes for "rock" these days just can't hold a candle to the rock of the 70's and 80's... ?And also because I personally believe that popular music is cyclical, I think it is time... ?For GNR to release CD and reintroduce real rock to the masses while turning the current music landscape upside-down and, yes, SMOKING THE REST! ? smoking

EDIT: fixing a typo
