Way underrated. He's known for a couple songs like "Everybody's Talkin'" and "Coconut" but his entire catalog is fantastic. He was best friends with Lennon and the Lennon influence can be heard on "Without You." I also really dig "Jump Into the Fire" and "Gotta Get Up" from "Nilsson Schmilsson."

His story would make a great film. He's a guy in desperate need of a big post-death comeback. He was working on a final album at the time of his death and completed all the vocal tracks. It hasn't been released yet, it was supposed to be called "Papa's Got a Brown New Robe."

According to Wikipedia he died with only $300 in the bank because someone embezzled him out of all his money in 1991. He suffered a heart attack in '93 and in '94 had another which cost him his life.
