I think Oh My God just got a bad rap because it's the first new GNR song that came out that was like "OK, this obviosuly isn't the Slash/Duff/Matt/Izzy GNR we've known and loved"

If Oh My God was a leaked tracked that was released a month ago, we'd all go nuts over it. Personally, I think Oh My God is a great song, and lyric-wise, one of Axl's best. I think the lyrics are unbelievably deep.

Maybe "specifically" wasn't the right word, but his quote indicates that the song was coming back. The article is on www.newgnr.com, in the articles section - It's Richard's interview with Anderson guitars:

TAGW: Which songs do you play on the Baritom?

Richard: Haven't used it live yet with G n' R. I'm going to use it on "Oh My God" and "Silkworms" (from the forthcoming Chinese Democracy record) live. I've used it in the studio on the new BT record and also on the new Deep Dish record.

Aww, crap. That article's from 2003. Hopefully Richard will have some other songs to put his Anderson into good use, otherwise we'll end up hearing Silk Worms all over again!

Also, it's funny he mentions the two new songs he's never played live with GNR. hihi

I think "Oh My God" is a great song...  I'm referring to the RIR III version, which (even at poor sound quality) fucking rocks!!  I've never heard more that about 30 seconds of the released version on the End of Days soundtrack (which sounds very weird)... To everyone who doesn't like the song:  are you referring to the End of Days soundtrack version, or the RIR III version.  I really can't understand all the negativity about it...

Oh My God's a good song.  Rocks hard and it has a catchy chorus and the electronica elements work.  The problem with OMG is that in 1999 GnR wasn't cool to like and the song appeared on the soundtrack of a movie that flopped so it kind of came and went without much fanfre.  But the RIR III performance was strong

Exactly... Again, I only heard a small portion of the version from the movie and what I heard sounded nothing like the version I heard from RIR III....  Anyone know if they played that song again live??  I've checked YouTube for bootlegs, but the only version that ever pops up is from RIR III...

Didnt axl once say it would be on Cd but remixed?.. yer i think he did.

Yes, he said he was forced to release that version but it was only a demo and he has since completely re-mixed the song. In fact you can hear even by Rock in Rio III that the entire intro was more synth-ish and different.

I really like "Oh My God"...to be its one of the things I love about GNR and Axl's work....like the diversity in style...like on one hand you have appetite style rock that kicks you in the balls, then theres the epic masterpieces, then theres these shorter somewhat experemental but lyrically facinating songs like "My World" and "Oh My God"...all this from the one band is really cool...and is what makes listening to a GNR selection a bit of an adventure....

I mean on one hand i can get why a person who was waiting to hear a song like jungle or estranged might flip at hearing OMG..but then at the same time we'd loose so much if we lost the songs like OMG!

I like the tune - but I think it'd be best  left as something " outside " of the original albums

I really liked OMG, especially the RIR III version.  I doubt it will be on a new album anytime soon, however if GNR were to do another GH or live album, I would love to see a re-worked version of the song on it.

It will be on CD but it will sound different....they changed the song a bit so it is easier to perform live and so it doesn't sound so messy at times. Apparantly they re-recorded some parts of it between 01' and 05'....Dizzy Reed had mentioned this several months back.....I do like the song but if they tweaked a few things it would absolutely sound MUCH better and more attractive to non- GNR fans... peace

As much as I like it, I wouldn't want to have the song on CD. And I guess it won't be there - I doubt they would put a song already released 7 years ago (I know it will sound different, but it's still the same song).

Hopefully they will release it again as a b-side somewhere...
