Body:    A Beautiful little boy needs our help...NOW

My 7 year old nephew Keiton has had Acute Lymphoblastic Leukaemia (ALL) for 3 years and in the last month of treatment the disease took another form of Leukaemia - Acute Myeloidblastic Leukaemia (AML) and he is now in hospital having intensive chemotherapy and radiation treatment. For this process to occur is very unusual and extremely rare.

He is now in the Royal Marsden hospital for 3 months of intensive Chemo & Radiation and then requires a Bone Marrow Transplant of which he will spend a further 4 - 6 weeks in hospital.

Because he is mixed race (white mother, black father) his tissue type is very unusual and we are still looking for a perfect match donor, as we have not been able to find one on any of the UK registers.

The potential donor must be of the same racial background and be aged between 18 ? 40 years old for the Anthony Nolan Trust (ANT) register or aged 18-44 years old for the National Blood Service (NBS) register.

He is an amazing person to be able to go through what he has for the last 3 years and still have a smile on his face, let's keep that smile going.

He is a very active child enjoying all the joys that children do but excelling in Tennis and his speciality the Violin? He has already performed in front of mesmerised audiences and looks to have a promising career.

My younger sister Paris from Hove in Sussex, is an incredible person, spending all her time with her son at the Royal Marsden Hospital in Sutton and is having to go through this without the father ever being around. She has been a tower of strength for him and now really needs your support to make her dream come true and watch her son grow up and have a fulfilling life. The family, including mum Lorraine, stepdad Jack and younger sister, Star, 14, have been supporting her and Keiton since he was diagnosed three years ago.

Therefore please register now through the ACLT at one of their forthcoming clinics/drives so that they assist the ANT or NBS in checking whether your vital Bone Marrow details are a match for little Keiton.

Keiton is such a lovely, bright, cheerful and cheeky child. He is an amazing person to be able to go through what he has, for the last three years, and still have a smile on his face.

He loves to play the violin and has really got a feel for it. We hope he will make more of this when he gets older. He also likes tennis, playing computer games and watching cartoons Spongebob Squarepants and Pokemon.

All we are asking is for people to have the test and see if they can help. Even if they are not a match for Keiton they may be able to help somebody else in need.

YOU can make this happen!!!!!

A loving uncle

The aim of the ACLT is to increase the Black representation on the UK registers (Anthony Nolan Trust and the National Blood Service) from our current approx. 19,000 to approx 30,000 - 40,000 potential donors. By increasing our numbers we increase the chances of finding suitable life saving matches.

If you are aged 18-40 and live in the UK we can consider you as a potential Bone Marrow donor (even if you have Sickle Cell Trait) but you must be willing to register as a possible bone marrow match for all patients (with a similar ethnicity/racial background) around the world awaiting possible matches. Please note that you cannot just walk into your Doctor's practice or any hospital to give a blood sample to register as a donor.

In order for you to save time you can Click Here and Click Here to download the necessary reading and registration documents "Commit to a Life Saving Procedure Now" and "Completing this form could save a life" medical questionnaire from the Anthony Nolan Trust's website.

These are both PDF files. So if you need the appropriate software then all you need to do is click and download the free Adobe Reader to download to view them.

Please print and complete every question in the medical questionnaire including all parts of the Consent section at the back of the form. Then bring the completed form to the Registration clinic so that it can be checked to ensure that you are eligible to register.

All we ask of you, especially if you are Black or Mixed Race and aged between 18-40 in relatively good health and not obese or under 8 stone, is to give up 15-30 minutes of your day at the registration clinic venue where you can hand in or complete the application form, be counselled about the donation procedures and if you are ever found to be a matched donor what your preparation would be. This is followed by a Q & A's session and finally giving 4 mls of blood (a tablespoon). The blood sample is taken to determine your bone marrow tissue type (your blood group is of no relevance) and these details with your name and location will be added on to a database of potential donors for patients awaiting matches around the world. On completion we will arm you with various bits of information and our contact details, just in case you need to speak with us in the future about anything.

The following information highlights the forthcoming 2006 registration clinic dates and locations in conjunction with the Anthony Nolan Trust:

Sunday 27th and Monday 28th August, Notting Hill Carnival, 11am till 7pm at the The Kensington Temple, Kensington Park Road, W11 3BI (close to Notting Hill Gate Station) (85 people registered)

If the above dates or venues are not convenient to you then we would strongly suggest that you contact the National Blood Service, which has 2nd largest register in the UK of potential bone marrow donors, but you have to be aged 18-44. The NBS are always in your area promoting the need for blood donation as well as the urgency for new potential bone marrow donors.

Please call them on 0845 7 711 711. Tell them you want to become a blood and bone marrow donor, they will ask what area you live or work in and can direct you to the closest donation session taking place possibly that same day. They will also post out to you information on blood registration drives in your area.

You can also go to National Blood Service to find your nearest public session. Just type in your home town or your postcode and you'll find plenty to choose from. And you don't even have to register before doing so. Just turn up on the day.

If you are willing and able to donate a unit of blood as well as joining the bone marrow register please give them a call and help Yvette Gate, Donna Benjamin and the many others. It is imperative that you must ensure to inform the NBS staff at the registration clinic that you want to also register as a potential Bone Marrow donor. (Do not presume that the NBS staff will automatically test you for Bone Marrow purposes)

You will then be asked to read and sign the necessary Bone Marrow form in addition to the standard Blood Transfusion form. When you are donating a unit of blood for transfusion purposes, a small amount will also be taken and put aside for Bone Marrow testing.
