It's called comon sense . We all know that nobody knows any facts regarding the relase of CD. You'd hope that people on this board or any board would have the common sense to interpret it as an opinion. I did and I'm sure most others did as well.  This whole arguement is fucking lame because the same thing happens all the time. People post their opinions without the "this is what I think" tag because it's not needed. We're smart enough to know better. At least I'd like to think so.  When someone posts "Estranged is Guns N' Roses best song bar none" there's no need to post a reply saying somthing like "Oh really and that's a fact is it?" We know it's not a fact. It's an obvious opinion. HamsterDemocracy's post was an obvious opinion. There's no need to add the "That's my opinion" at the end. It's up to you to have the common sense to realies that and not feel the need to spout off about it and start a useless debate over somthing that's irrelevant to the original topic.

It's funny to me that you used the term "common sense" in there like 3 times and to me "common sense" would be not to post the same "the album isn't coming out" stuff over and over and over again. Whereas art is concerned, it's obvious when an opinion is being stated. You can't just say that "Estranged is the best song ever" because there's no way to prove a fact with art. However, the music industry and how things are done can and are fact based. So to post something that says the album isn't coming by a certain time because of certain things would require an opinion tag.

Well guys, if nothing happens, the album is not coming out this year. There's no way in hell they'd drop an album of this magnitude in December and, even if they did, it would be early December to anticipate the Christmas rush, AND most importantly if early December is the LATEST we're getting this thing, then an announcement would have to be made at least a month in advance, which puts us at early November. And that's the absolute latest they could go.

I cannot stand when people state their opinion as fact. It is your opinion that if nothing happens the album isn't coming out this year not fact.

It is fact that Axl said it is coming out this year.

Having said all of that, I still think there will be an announcement the week after the warm up gigs end. And that's my guess or opinion.

Russ, not for anything, but as much as I enjoy reading your posts, that really sounds very booker floyd-esque to me...This is a message board.  Is it truly necessary to point out that the post may possibly contain an opinion?  A disclaimer doesn't really seem required...That was an opinion.

When the opinion is posted as fact I feel it's necessary to remind the poster that it's just an opinion. I just feel like alot of people feel there are these "rules" for the record industry that they know so much about and so "if this doesn't happen by then, than nothings happening" and so on. It's like; is there some possible way that they could be doing things different then the norm? I mean, this is Guns N' Roses for crying out loud.

"Posted as fact"? Get off your high horse. People don't have to say IMHO before offering an opinion. It's a given they're offering their opinion just by writing. I guess you should go attack Roger Ebert now because he said A Clockwork Orange was a bad movie; I suppose that means it's a fact. I mean, he wrote it like a fact, right? So it must be true! 

Furthermore I never said my opinion was a fact and you certainly didn't have to "remind" me otherwise.

Regarding my assumptions and speculation regarding the album's release - indeed Guns N' Roses are unorthodox on all accounts and are hardly the "norm" when it comes to anything, but Geffen is still going to be putting this monster out, and from a financial standpoint they would be committing suicide by releasing it in late December. They are going to be VERY aware of the Christmas rush and - ahem - "IMHO" this puts us at a mid-November release date.

Normally the most expensive album ever made might be given a lot of promotional hype before its release but I suppose a late October announcement would still give enough time for a mid-to-late November release. I really can't imagine this thing being released after that, though - not in this year, I mean. November is usually the best time for companies to unleash products because it gives people enough time to become aware of them and get them for Christmas presents. If you release something a week before Christmas a lot of people have already done all their Xmas shopping and this results in significant drop-off in sales.

What you did was make a statement saying that they album isn't coming this year unless certain things happen by a certain time. That's not an opinion arena, that is something that can be decided by fact based outcomes.

I also found it funny that you would say "Normally, the most expensive album ever made...". What would make you construct a sentence that starts that way? Is there some sort of standard that I missed for when you're released the most expensive album ever made?

My point in the first place was that Axl said it's coming this year; it's coming this year. If you think otherwise thats fine, but to just make a broad sweeping statement about how we need to have a single or promotions by a certain day or week or it's not coming is just not true.

Having said that they could also be using the time for listening sessions on ChiDem to work out the final master. They could also be working with teams on artwork, prmotion or they could be making a video, everything is speculation at this point.

The cool thing is, that after so many years, it feels like we are on the brink of it all happening finally.

I agree and say thats exactly what the gap is for. 

Also there was other times when they said c.d. will be released and the year of gnr yadda yadda.  I definetly feel like this is it, theres just some different feeling in the air, which most of us here feel.

Second, I was wondering about that myself. If positive press and word of mouth continues along with an announcement (and maybe) good reception from rock radio of the album; do you think we're just gonna be flooded with newbies and what not?

I'm not saying thats a bad thing, but I had been thinking about it as well and since you brought it up somone else must be thinking the same thing.

First of all, don't even apologize.....it is very entertaining to see people in heated arg..um..e.....ummm....discussions.....I'ts cool with me.....and a lot of other people I'm sure....you guys weren't crossin' any lines....2nd....I think the timing would be PERFECT if they announced a release date and a single during this period.....Starting off the tour that way???
