I saw Hoob open for VR, and I gotta say, they were really good....Definately NOT POP.
Many rock bands, even big bands, most of their songs sound basically the same...These guys
mix it up quite well and have some real musical talent IMO .

However, I went to the Phantom Planet website and listened to many of their songs (30 sec
clips)...Wow, now thats some sorry pop...These guys may get booed of the stage.

Eh, I dunno. I'm there to see GNR and could really care less who else is there, it'd just be icing on the cake if it were Buckcherry or A7X. Those two bands definitely don't mesh well with GNR fans, IMO. I dunno. Maybe those are just one-off deals. They need a real rock band...

I saw Hoobastank open for VR at Jones Beach, in NY, and let me tell you, they Hoobasuck BIG TIME. Those guys cannot play their instruments for sh*t and their singer can't hit a note worth a damn. I couldn't believe how bad they were. I guess they just have good production.

Here's hoping when GNR make their way to NY this time around, they bring with them a better opening band then Hoobastank!  beer

The only experience I've ever had with them was when the performed part of The Reason on the VMAs and the lead singer sounded like SHIT. So I have no doubt in what you say.

Oh well, nothing can be worse the cky or Mix Master Mike IMO.

didn't hoobastank open for vr?

Sure did! As a matter of fact, the first single of their newest album was written about Scott Weiland and how much Hoobastanks lead singer hated him.

Is this really true? It sounds funny - can you provide a link or more backstory?

Oh it's true... here ya go:

Am I wrong or is Hoobastanks lead singer making fun of Guns N' Roses fans in that article?

I took it to mean he was disappointed with how many closed minded GNR & STP fans there were.

Dude should relax. When you're an opening act at rock show some of thoses things will happen. As for Wieland, that's not cool at all if he was treating them like that.

Here's what he said:

"But they were probably really upset because they found some rust spots on their Camaros, or because they got their mullets caught in the door while tailgating, and they were like, 'Ow! Damn it! I'm gonna go mess with HOOBASTANK!"

I think he is either making fun of or making a generalization about GN'R fans.  Whether he was completely serious or not, it's not cool to say about fans that will be watching him as an opening act in a few weeks.  Maybe I'm taking it too serious, but I don't think he was joking about what he said, considering it's coming after the comment of how all of the fans turned their backs on them and held up their middle fingers, which actually pisses him off.  Fuck it all anyway...

That cover is actually quite good!

But, Richard didn't rule out Civil War as an addition to the setlist in the future...  ok

I think he is either making fun of or making a generalization about GN'R fans.? Fuck it all anyway...

I'm the one that posted the link to article in the first place. I was just posting how I took what he said.
