Yeah, I think it started before midnight and there was a countdown to the new year too. If I remember correctly.

Yes, it started some time after midnight.

and it says there a pro-shot of one of them

That must be the DVD that was never released.

No, there was one show on NYE 2000 (which actually started in 2001 since it was after midnight).

And then two shows in December 2001 (29th and 31st).

yeah... the Jan 01 show was supposed to be started at 1 AM, and it was a far cry from that.  They came on after a Goo Goo Dolls show.  It was the only show they played.  Then they did RIR 3, then they did the December 01 Vegas shows, but those were at a different venue, if I recall correctly.  I know the Jan show was at the House of Blues, but I thought the Dec. shows were at a bit bigger venue.  Do I remember correctly?

Just saw this. Sorry for bumping.

I was in Vegas on New Years Eve 2001 at the Hard Rock. The show started at 11pm. At 11:54pm they started Madagascar (Axl pointed to the wall clock and said "it's ticking") and finished it seconds before midnight when the countdown happened. There was a short selebration of the New Year back and side stage...champaigne and everything. Then they resumed with November Rain at 12:05am. The show finished at 1:10am with the usual confetti. Silkworms, which was part of the encore along with Paradise City, I thought was one of the most rocking songs that night (Axl was going crazy during this song).

This must have been one of the most expensive GN'R shows ever. Tickets for the floor were about $225 with taxes each and for the balcony $50 or $100 more (I can't rememeber exactly). For comparison, tickets for the previous show on the 29th were almost half the price.

I don't think there are any video or audio recordings of this.

Hard Rock 12-31-2001
balcony tickets $300 + tax ~ $325 total

True HOB was magic after 7.5 years of silence but technically 12-31-2001 was better....plus we had the honor to do the new year countdown together with the band..
