Installing a killswitch

I know we have quite a few musicians here who might know something about this one. I've got a Samick Les Paul copy that I'm going to do some modifications on-- strap locks, new pickups, and my favorite potential addition, a killswitch. I was wondering if anyone had ever installed a killswitch on a guitar before at all as I have no idea how the wiring goes to produce the best effect. I heard that just having a bypass on the wire to the output jack will produce a ton of extra noise that wrecks the effect, and that it somehow has to be wired through some sort of ground connection to the pickup selector switch (if that makes any sense).
Anyone ever put one in before or know how one would go?

I'm not a guitarist myself, but if you go to

I've never seen one done, but thinking from electric point of view, the most logical thing would be to drive the signal to the ground when ever the signal is not wanted in the output...
