Before that riot in Philly during the last tour, didn't Axl say he didn't show up because he was watching a basketball game?  Sounds like he didn't care then.

Well, pal, here's a direct quote from "The Band Time Forgot"-
After subsequent shows, which go ahead minus problems, another riot is caused by the failure of GNR to play their scheduled tour inPhiladelphia on December 6th.  Axl later admits to watching a basketball game in his hotel room when due on stage.

Yeah,  watching a b-ballgame on TV is more important then doing your job performing for your fans.

Me think you should stop believing everything that's printed black on white.

Axl has never admitted to such a thing. One more case of a writer's hallucination  Tongue

Ah The Band That Time Forgot, a bastian of truth and fact.

People need to get out more, then they would realise that whats rerported is often far from the truth and reality

If the b-ball watching Axl story is crap does anybody have any ideas on what happened?  The book was the only explanation of the situation that I have heard, so if there's another "story" out there, please post a link/quote here.  Thank you.

Anything GNR printed in black and white should never be believed in unless there's evidence to back it up ( CD release, tour dates, breakups...etc.).

The Story

Sanctuary Music Group, the enormous London based plc, who manage Guns n Roses, Iron Maiden and The Strokes among others, looks destined to be sold.

Reports last week suggested that EMI and Warner were in talks with Sanctuary Group, however, EMI have "backed off" according to one insider. The Firm are also expected to make an offer at some stage in the next week although they are not expected to be able to match any offer that may come from Warner.

However, Sp1at has been told that Sanctuary Group looks like it may fall into the hands of a private investor with John De Mol as well as many other names being touted about the halls of Sanctuary HQ.

Sanctuary Group's overall share value currently fluctuates around the ?161 Million mark ($293 Million) for any visitors who fancy making an investment.

I would think that this option would probably be best, instead of a big conglomerate swallowing Sanctuary.  Onthe other hand, if a big conglomerate were to buy in, that could possibly put more pressure on Axl to release the album.

The sale of Sanctuary to another company should not have any affect on the new CD. First of all, companies aren't sold like regular goods you buy at the story. It takes about half a year once talks begin. Also, usually between the exploraroty announcement and when talks begin takes about 3-6 months. Then there's the whole fact that companies don't quit working or quit tyring to put out their product when they're in negotiations. And they damn sure don't do it before they begin negotiations. They have a business to run and if it goes under or looks bad, then it isn't going to sell. So if the new CD is near completion as Axl says ( or truely does have a "late fall" release date as he told Rolling Stone earlier this year), then this SHOULD have absolutely zero affect on that. I'd raise my eyebrows to someone who uses this as an excuse.

This could be a reason behind the rumour of "if it's not released by December, there will be no Chinese Democracy."

The members of some band or magazine or something supposedly said that, and Mysteron said "Why would the guys at <wherever> make that kind of nonsense up?"

If you buy more than 50% of Sanctuary shares the company is yours. Then you can finally get to listen to Chinese Democracy!! ok
