So who likes their music?
Whats some of your favorite songs and shiznit?

It's too bad Carl had to die and yeah now they are a joke with just Mike Love and Bruce Johnston having the Beach Boys name and touring under it.

At least Brian Wilson is getting his credit and respect which has been long over due these last couple of years.

Anyways if any of dudes or dudettes dig this band ya I think I made a post about them haha.... Roll Eyes

I love their laidback, carefree sound. Their songs make me think of summer and happy times.

My favorites are:

Don't Worry Baby
God Only Knows
Surfin' USA
Fun, Fun, Fun
Wouldn't It Be Nice

I'm impresed by any band that can include the word 'Surfin' in every song, album, chorus, verse and press release, i think thats great. It always makes me think of surfin' ya know for some reason? I can so relate.

Brian Wilson is an absolute genius, most people will never know how complex these seemingly easy surf-tunes really are...

Great great band, I think they're very underrated, people think they're mostly a pop band.
In truth they really had their deep moments, particularly Pet Sounds and that whole period which I think had an enormous influence on music. Brian Wilson is definitely a genius take SMiLE for example. Speaking of which... anybody have any news on the long-rumoured SMiLE boxset? Now that I'd like to hear!!!

Yeah they might releaseit hopefully. On some box sets they have some smile songs.? but? not the whole thing.

I really hope they will release it. I want to hear Denny (Dennis Wilsons), Carl, Al all on Smile. Don't care that much for Mike.

Well they might have a reunion. This was at Capitol records.

This one actually has them talking more

Dennis died and so did Carl. Two out of the three Wilson brothers are gone.

Dennis would probably be my favorite drummer ever. Sure technically not as good as other. But his charisma and his performance was just awesome.

Not really a great band, but amazing vocalists.  I have the 2 box sets (the best-of & the Pet Sounds box) and saw Brian on the Smile tour.  Simply incredible.  3 hours of wonderful musicianship, voices, lyrics and magic.  Go see him if/when you can.  It's worth it just to hear him sing "God Only Knows" with his now-aged voice.  Touching would be an understatement.

The original Smile Sessions stuff is pretty abundant on the web.
