Metallica fans may not like Axl... but they better get used to him again... the new GN'R demos blow the fvcking doors off St. Anger- I'm certain of that much at least. Meanwhile, that whole idiotic Napster suit and that vagicil movie "Some Kind? of Monster" has all but cemented Metallica as the "sell outs" that Metallica fans used to claim that GN'R was... much has changed since '92. Metallica fans would be wise to shut the fvck up and pray to God that the Met boys rekindle some magic in the studio... I'll have ZERO patience for their garbage this time around... and I like Metallica.

I'm not saying it's right or wrong, but I don't think metallica fans are goiong to care for the blues maddy citr or twat the way other types of music fans might.. I think metallica fans might enjoy OMG, Better or IRS more....

Yeah... I hear you... I think the Metallica fans that dig Load, Reload, S&M, etc. will probably like Chinese Democracy and what Axl's trying?to do... but the hard core "Ride the Lightning" crowd dressed in black will have zero time for it and will be dicks about it... but hell... those guys might be too mad at METALLICA at the moment to even give a shit about?GN'R.hihi

You see, I find this somewhat amusing. I like Metallica, not die hard but I like them. I liked GnR more growing up (I'm 33). Now, to hear you say you have zero patience for Metallica, who have put out 3 albums in the last 10 years. Albeit mediocre albums, but albums for the fans nonetheless. I'm sure they did their best on them, and tried something new with St Anger, maybe it didn't work out so well with all the fans, but I give them credit for experimenting and NOT releasing "Reload Again". They've done several tours, even free concerts for the fans with some radio stations, and yet you have zero patience for them.

You seriously must be reserving ALL your patience then for this new GnR album. ?Grin Grin Grin

Well anyone that has ever been apart of a hardcore fan club or more recent;ly online forums you know most people feel their bands music is always the best or their guys can do no wrong.... ?That shows that every big time fan feeels whatever their guy puts out is going to run the charts again or be ?ahige seller.. St anger might have sucked but it sold an incredible 500,000 plus albums in it's opening week.. Let me tell you many metallica fans I know loved at tleast the song st anger.. ?Metallica's fan base definetly turned on them to a degree in 91 with the black album yet it sold 12 million or more copies so they gained fans, so they do have a very diverse audience these days,,,, Metallica is an business now, it's a name like gucci it's name will sell anything greatly because it's metallica..

Once bands reach a status like u-2 they can shit on wind and it will sell like crazy and get promoted like it's the joshua tree again...

Well said, I feel to many gnr fans today feel axl is the only one who cares about his fans being he takes so damn long to make something.. Other bands aren't trying to ripp their fans off they just don't make what people expect the way they did when they ruled the earth..  I thuink at some point it becomes about jusr rocking out and enjoying life playing live over doing soemthing groundbreaking... I think they still try hard it's just nott hat easy to keep making great music especially after you are some rich guy not as hungry anymore..

I'd expect an awful lot of booing and derision from the Download crowd. The metal heads will turn up in force to throw bottles/piss/mud at Axl and I really can't see it being a pleasant show, like RIR will be.

At Rio Axl has to turn up to be treated like a returning hero and whatever he plays and however he plays it, it will be well received.

If he turns up at Download and does anything but a brilliant show including a virtually all-new set list and they will be booed off stage.

I'm expecting a pretty nasty atmosphere at Download. I just hope Axl wins them over and doesn't react badly to the initial abuse.

Maybe I'm coming off too harsh... my simple point (irregardless of sales numbers) is that Metallica has been humbled themselves in terms of fan disappointment and ?highly critical articles and reviews the past decade (since GN'R disappeared)... the soap box from which Metallica fans (at least the ones I know) used to lecture GN'R fans has been cut out from under them at least as far as I'm concerned... and that's why I'll have zero patience for their "holier than thou" bs this time around... Metallica is a band with some major issues right now... St. Anger was GOD awful... calling it an "experiment" is being extremely kind.... the natives are restless... just go to a Met board and you'll see what I'm talking about...

I wasn't there for Metallica on saturday nite but i did see GnR on sunday and even though they got off to a rocky start what i saw last nite on CH4 and what i heard from people that were at Download and they all agreed  that GnR stole the weekend and even blew Metallica off the stage. Not bad considering the place was full of EMU's or fuckin ELMO'S or whatever the fuck u call um.
Does anybody agree with this

As for the crowd reaction, Donnington didn't have much time for the delays but they were won over no doubt by Paradise City.
