Hey gunners,

Since they've changed the songs a bit for this tour, do you think that they're going to be different on Chinese Democracy also ? Or are they really done with the recording process ?

We know that Buckethead's parts are going to stay, but I was wondering, since we haven't heard "The Blues", etc. since 2002, maybe they've changed them in studio version too ?

It would be great for Chinese Democracy, as the intro + solo are really great, but I hope they've left The Blues the way it was back in 2002.

Thoughts ?

Im not too fussed either way. I prefer 2002 Blues and 2006 Chinese Democracy, but we'll always have the boots no matter what they put on the album. I trust axl to put out a good set of songs.

If the album is ready, as we hope it is, they're probably playing the album version.

So we can assume that the "There Was A Time" demo is very very close the finished track ?

Probably. This post is going to go on a chain of speculation so dont pay it too much heed.

If they are planning to drop the album inbetween Europe and North America, its safe to say the album is basically complete (  drool ). Unless they want to throw the fans Id say that estranged.1098 is right and they are close to the final version.

Richard Fortus, the phenomenon

As far as i remember, Buckethead didnt play even one single note on "The Blues" in 02. Rythm and Lead were played by Finck and Fortus. 1st solo by Robin, 2nd solo by Richard. Buckethead either made figuration, or simply wasn't even onstage during the song, depending on the shows.
So BH or not, it will have no impact on the final track.

didn't Axl said they recorded a few versions of every song? So it might be they played version "a" on the 2002 tour and version "b" on this tour to see the reactions. That might explain why they are still switching the track list back and forth because (for example) a slower  version of the blues might not work as (for example) album track no.4 right after a rockerand so on.... Huh

CD isn't that different, just the intro, and live versions are always changed to "pump" them up.

I hope CD keeps the original intro on the actual finished disk. The new intro is cool for a live intro to pump people up.. but the old version is still my favorite.

And 2002 The Blues is just intensly better than the 2006.

I hope MeanMachine is right and they just happen to be trying out different versions to gauge the reactions.

Chinese Democracy is finished and ready to be released, and then Axl says, "No wait, I can make it better!".  This must have happened 876 times already.
