The best thing in the world was VR when we had no sight of Axl and GnR. But with Axl Rose back on the scene like its 1988 all over again, VR has become yesterday's news.....

i liked contra and some of the songs were really good, but Scott cannot hold anything to Axl and people obviously will compare. scott is a second rate star whereas axl is one of the biggest stars in the world. i think we will see very little excitement for this new VR cd. ESPECIALLY if chinese democracy comes out around the same time!

actually no...it's not a stupid topic.

if CD is slated to come out Novemeber-ish and Slash hopes that we'll see something this year by way of a new VR release. Then they will go head to head.

Now I'm no great fan of Scott. I'm an old (in both ways) GnR fan. I saw them first back in 87. I have no arguement with the new band, other than they are not really GnR but Axl plus friends, and i will listen with an open mind when the cd comes out. I've seen VR live mainly cos I wanted to see Slash and Duff again. I think Axl is not as strong a performer as he once was...but neither is Slash...but neither of them is 25 anymore.

But unless VR does come up with something stronger than Contraband then i think Axl may come out on top (unless of course CD is weak) but it is a relevant topic...because by the end of the year they could both  be relseasing new stuff to the same audience.

I don't agree. I think that VR will do just fine. I myself never thought that Mr. Rose was was anything to write home about as a live performer but that's just my opinion. And yes I saw the old gnr live back in the day!
