Well they voted Definitely Maybe as the greatest record ever. The debate of being better than the Beatles has gone on for awhile. I dont get it. If you ask me Oasis sound inferior to the Beatles and many, many other bands. So again..why Oasis?

well what a load of shit peace

Saw Oasis live this year amazing.

Deep Purple are bloated and washed up. Like honestly they have worse line up changes then Guns N' Roses.

I saw them live last summer, Deep Purple that is and it was the worst concert I have ever been to. It really made me hate classic shitty rock even more. I am not saying all classic rock is shit. But like I really fucking hate this band.

Oasis?  Copy-cats.  No way they can be considered the best British band ever, total bollocks.  Not musically talented, Noel's written a few good tunes but that's about it.  They're very good at what they do but it's nothing special really is it?  Surely oeople who listen to decent music don't vote Oasis.

Iron Maiden slay Oasis in every department, no contest.

Just seen the rest of the list, usual predictable dirge.  Nirvana, yeah yeah whatever.  White Stripes at 59?  Are there really only 58 better albums than that?  People really have no idea.

iron maiden, judas priest, black sabbath, DIDN'T DEFINE A GENERATION!

That's way oasis top these lists, back in the 90's it felt good to be british again, what oasis offered was no songs about satan n death which most bands were offering at the time. They wrote songs which every kid on the street could relete to!

The yanks won't agree, but they made britain cool again, so props for that!

Metal didn't define a generation because it has timeless appeal. "Define a generation" is just saying something was a "popular movement", which ultimately means passing fad. That's all Britpop was. Timeless music is better than nostalgia inducing pop-rock. Classic metal albums like Sad Wings of Destiny, Leprosy, Lightning To The Nations, Aske, Bonded By Blood, and Psalm 9 are just as great today as back then. Perhaps the best way to judge music is to have someone listen to it who never experienced it in its heyday, when popularity influenced taste. You'll see that classic rock and metal appeals to kids in their teens today, despite its age. It's simply timeless.

doesn't that mean oasis, stone roses etc aren't timeless records, just because they relesed their albums in their britpop era doesn't mean they aren't timeless, just look at the bands now in britain their trying to recreate the britpop area and are heavely influnced by oasis, stone roses!
