Del's something of an assistant, I gather, doing all kinds of jobs for Axl across the board. I'm remember reading he was  the guy who went through the UYI tour tapes to pick up tracks for Live Era.

'Cause he works for Axl?

Del's been around for ages, and I've never heard the ex-members namedropping him the way the have mentioned, say, Paul Tobias. To me, Del comes up as someone who knows Axl better than most people and knows how to go along with him. It's possible to have a fertile working relationship with Axl without agreeing with him in every other thing, ask Tommy and Robin.

I guess Del interviewed Axl in that 2002 pre-tour press release, when gnronline.com was still being used.

Aaah, old times... hihi

Wasn't Del James essentially Axl's "official interviewer" for a period of time? I.e. Axl would only grant interviews to magazines if Del was writing the article?

Yes, you are right. And it proves he's not a yes man. BTW listen Snakepit's Beggars and Hangers-On a song about Del and the other clones.

Well, he was in NYC at least - Saw him at the Hammerstein the three nights I was there.  Looks like he's in the Hungary pics, as well.

Del has performed almost every function you could possibly perform with GnR and not be on stage playing an instrument.

He started as a writer and journalist.  That was his initial exposure to the band and Axl.

He became the "official interviewer" and biographer, and developed into one of Axl's closest confidants and advisors.  He's worked closely with Axl, as tour manager, roadie manager, advisor, and general "Man Friday" as well as other various job duties.

I've met Del (in Hartford).  Seemed like a nice guy.

Did Slash ever say this was about Del? It does fit, I guess if you think about it-no slam against Del
