He DID say "Happy Mother's Day..........Mutherfuckers!" Clear as day. I had ear plugs in at the soundboard so I could hear him crystal clear.
He was wondering why there was a basket of apples at the side of the stage at one pint and you could see them on the screens. Later on he took one apple out and threw it to the crowd.
"So you guys are the die-hards, right? Thieving, pre-sale ticket buying
"
He mentioned the presale on several nights.
On the second night he said that the Friday 12th crowd were good but the Sunday crowd were killing them.
Afer an awesome YCBM "Robin just told me that is what he lives for!"
At piano before November Rain "The other day Tommy and I got to a point where we were like 'fuck you this and fuck you that...', but we're having a great time tonight."
There was a LOT of interaction between Tommy and Axl and Robin and Axl. Whenever they were both at the middle front part of the stage where it extends out, Axl would put his arm right round Robin and several times Robin put his head on Axl's chest for ages in a really affectionate way. Axl was really affectionate towards Bumblefoot and Richard as well but I remember a lot of love between Tommy, Robin and Axl expecially.
They all had amazing chemistry in terms of interaction and would stand back to back playing or look eachother in the eyes, nose to nose.
And it wasn't like with old GnR where there's put their arms round eacother in a macho kinda way, trying to look cool about it. It was all genuinely really affectionate.
The intro to Nightrain on the last night was meant to repeat the first line twice and then Kid Rock would come on, but Brain went to play it 3 times and Axl yelled 'Stop stop stop' and said they did it just twice in rehearsal. He turned to the crowd and said "See, we really ARE Guns N Roses."
Richard made a point of playing facing Izzy, and so did Bumble. But Izzy looked really lost up there. He didn't know hardly any of the words to TAY and he looked at the floor most of the time. It makes me laugh when I read people wondering if he's joining them etc etc as if everything that's happened the last 8 years means nothing. He doesn't want to play to 80,000 people every night for 3 years. He didn't look like he'd be happy playing to 4,000 people every night. He looked old and haggard. Don't get me wrong, it was AMAZING to see him, and he maybe got an even bigger pop than when Axl came out and he seemed happy when everyone chanted his name. But the new band looked like a band having the time of their lives, ready to kill. Izzy looked like he's way past doing it like that. He doesn't want the rock circus now anymore than he did when he left over 10 years ago.
By the 4th night there was a definite shift to a point where you could feel a change in the audience and the band. The first night felt like one of the 2002 shows. The last show really felt like this IS Guns N Roses now. You could sense the band felt it, and the acoustic show plus Axl's comments on KROC confirm this, and you could just feel in the audience that everyone pretty much went "Okay okay, it's the new band now, let's give them a chance." Admittedly a large number of Axl worshippers like me were there but after the shows every night, all I heard from casual fans and people who had no clue about the new band was 'what a fucking show' and 'best show ever' and 'fucking amamzing'. On the subway and in the bars, people were just mad for it, people who and queued up and were saying 'So Slash isn't in it anymore?!!!'
