I'm a llama!

« on: May 18, 2006, 09:34:26 PM »

Fellow gnr fans, i just watched a 9 minute video clip of the show. I was in cleveland the last time around. The nine minute clip, was better than the whole cleveland show. In cleveland, it was almost as axl was being forced to play. The band had no emotion, and axl really did not either. They are sooooo close from breaking this thing wide open now. Axl Looks and sounds great. He moves around again, and the other guys look like they are really into it. TWAT reminded me of seeing the uyi tour in 1991. Those are the kind of songs that really sound good, (both on a cd, and live) you can really see the emotion. I did not like IRS at all, until I heard this new clip. The song and the whole cd is going to rock. I hope axl releases this thing BEFORE a USA tour. This will give the new band there own identity and give us fans something to link them too. I know alot of people on these boards get mad at the media and others for calling them axl and co. But anyone who is my age and seen them in the glory years will NEVER,EVER lose our apreciation for axl, izzy, slash, duff, steven and matt! but I will tell you this, this 9 minute video proved to me that these new guys have what it takes to writr their own chapter in gnr history. Now, where is the rest of that video?

After seeing them on the 12th, I firmly believe that the glory days of GnR are far from over.  Simply amazing, and back with a vengeance.

AGREED, on the 12th, Axl had some much fire...like a total re-birth for him.  I was happy for him and the band that has patiently waited and worked with him

Me and my friend that attended on the 12th felt exactly the same way. Once they get a single and album out, this band is gonna take off very much as the Guns N' Roses of the future.

100% agree with this post. The way i see it its not a competition - we now have 2 excellent bands called GNR..one histoic and one current.....

I'm so pumped for CD now its not funny!!!

Oh hell yeah you guys nailed it. Bring on Guns N Roses

Amazing lineup, amazing musicians, amazing musicianship, amazing new songs

I think I probably have greater appreciation and respect for them now than the classic days with the older lineup

Well I certainly stopped checking updates at Velvet Revolver websites thats for sure.

Sure I had my doubts and my frustrations with the wait and the endless lineup changes and lost hope and appreciation and respect especially for Axl but after these warm up shows and the new songs my faith in the band is stronger than it ever was before

Oh yeah. One more thing

Slash, Duff and Matt can stay right wherever they are. Personally I don't feel a need for them to return at all. Quite happy with where they are now. Happy for them not to return anytime soon at all.

Utmost appreciation and respect to Robin Finck especially for his great effort and contributions to the band. If "Better" is any indication, this man is definitely going to be the secret to take Guns N Roses to a completely different level

How is the quality of this 9 minute video??

The audio is very listenable. Resolution on the video isnt bad but the camera is far from steady in places.

Well worth the download for now.

Couldn't agree more, a few of my friends who give me a hard time about the band, went to the show on the 12th, and they even said it kicked ass. Also agree completly with the emotion being there again, i went to the Detroit show in 02 and axl walked off stage after fucking up patience, he seems like a different man, the cd is coming out this year.

LORD OF THE BARNYARD

I was there last night (17th). Now, I've seen the old band ('88) and I saw a show in '02.

No comparisons to the '88 band, the original 5. Those a glory days. A flicker of bright white light, like every other classic band who didn't last long. It's history.

Now comparing to the '02 show, the same band: There's an unmistakeable natural vibe there, especially with Axl and Robin. The vibe is that they all SO WANT to do this for as long as it can be. Looking back in hindsight, '02 did seem a bit too forced. Now, there's such an organic and new way to the whole thing.

Axl will win the war, period.

Thank you for the insight.. great post. now that i think about it, the 02 tour wasn't as good as it could have been!

I'm excited like the rest, although I am reluctant to herald these 4 shows as proof that GN'R is back.  No doubt they seem to be getting off on the right foot, but I wanna see how they perform when they are playing mid-sized cities in the states and their is little fan fair other than the local rock stations.  In my opinion that is where GN'R is going to re-establish themselves this time around.  After all, it's not as hard to get psyched for a tour opening set of shows in the New York City.  It might be more difficult though to put on a great show on date 32 in east bumblefuck idaho.

Hopefully this time the new cd will be out before they tour the states or at the very least before they go through some of the smaller cities, as I think GN'R can still sell out arenas in some of the major cities.  What I don't want to see is any more riots.
