Wow, I feel really bad for the mid-west
I do in a way, but at the same time if you are a dedicated fan with a driver's license you're going to see GNR no matter the location. I live in MN but will still drive close to 1,000 miles to Ames and Mpls, and 1,000 miles could get you to any venue in the U.S. Look at people like Bono who live in Canada and travel to NYC and all over Canada to see shows.
And there really can't be much of a financial reason, if there was, the person could surely work instead of waste time on here. Looking at my stats (this is painful), I've been logged in for 15 days, 7 hours and 11 minutes. If I would have been working even at $7 an hour during the time I've been on here, I would have made $2,570.05 in the past 3 years. Hell, I could have went to every show on the tour.
