How is Guns N' Roses generally regarded?

Hi there! I'm new to the board, but a long time lurker here! 

Anyway; I love GNR (otherwise I wouldn't be here I guess) and I was wondering how would you describe how the outside world (non fans, normal people  ) generally regard Guns N' Roses?

I find it difficult to determine at times. When I talk to friends or collegues of mine, some of them view them as a really great and cool band, while others just think they're a hopelessly dated band.

If Chinese Democracy is going to be a succes, this won't be achieved if only the GNR fans buy the record. It is that non-fan, "normal" crowd that has to be hooked by it so to speak.

What do you think?

Erm...they are pretty hated from where I'm from...but thats just South East London for you.

I'm not even sure if the people in my class new who they were until I started there... 


But seriosly though, they are not that respected here (teenagers in Stockholm) If they even listen to rock music, it's more newer bands like Green Day or Simple Plan and shit.

There is alot of hardrockers in Uppsala,I'm glad I'm not living in Sthlm 

I've been asking myself that too, wish I was young in the '80s or something

I think GNR won't be as big as they used to be end 80/begin 90. That being said, they are doing quite well. Just wait till the album comes out (I'm still a believer) and there will be music videos, interviews, more shows..... the ball just started rolling again. They didn't do a good job on that in 2002, hardly anybody besides hard-core fans even knew they were touring. If/ when CD comes out, it will be a whole other ballgame.

All the hardrockers here are getting older. My mom just wont stop telling me about all the great concerts she went to when she was younger, and that I will never be able to see...Gaaaarrhh!

There is no hope for teenagers today   but I can still understand why though, they never get to hear "real music". The radio, tv and magazines all focus on hiphop and r&b. Classic rock just isn't popular right now...

I would trade the internet for seeing GN'R live in 1987-1990 any day!

I want to see them too! But the tickest sold out very fast, right? And I can't get my cousin to pay 600 SEK...
