It makes good sense and also follows GNR history to tour, finish and release the cd, then tour again.  GNR can try out several of the new songs, and check out the crowd reaction to the new stuff.  This may affect the tracks chosen for the releases.   (Remember how OMG, Silkworms disappeared right away, and even Rhiad dropped off the set list in 2002?)  Same idea here, I bet.

On a side note, a fall release is perfect for Rolling Stone to put GNR on the cover with this headline:

Why everything's coming up roses for the new guns.

That would be freakin sweet!
