Here Today...

« on: May 04, 2006, 09:21:25 AM »

The band is now complemented by Tommy Stinson on bass, a member of fellow Twin Cities band the Replacements since age 13, and a pal of Dan?s since he was in high school and Tommy in junior high. Tommy was the only friend that Karl could endorse to replace himself in the band. This hard-driving lineup was introduced for the first time in October 2005, when they played sold-out showcase dates at First Avenue in Minneapolis and the Bowery Ballroom in New York within three days.

GNR is not mentioned at all (im not implying that he is not in the band).

Nor does it mention any of his solo work.  Or any of the other bands he's performed/recorded with.  Or any of his other projects.

So what?

The 'mats were where Tommy made his name.  MOST people who recognize his name, outside these forums, are going to associate him with the 'mats.  That's the "context" he's most well known in.

Not to mention, the 'mats, and SA, are both Twin Cities bands, so there is that relationship to mention.

Again, I wouldn't read too much into the short bio they have up.

It's Soul Aslyum's website.
Obviously, they don't need to promote Tommy's GnR ties if they don't want.
And with all the rumors and gag orders, I'm sure tommy told them to leave GnR out of the equasion anyway.

Well why would they introduce him on the website as the replacement of Karl and also list all their summer tour dates that are coming up.  It sure seems like he will be touring with them.

The whole situation with Tommy is pretty weird. Yes he's in Soul Asylum, but yes he's in Guns N' Roses. he said so today on the Jim Rome show. Well actually Rome said it but Tommy didn't dispute it. Also he's just recorded new material with The Replacements for their greatest hits album so if and when they get back together is still up in the air. he's a busy guy that's for sure.

Yeah its bizarre alright

Youd think with these shows right around the corner, that would be the focus?

Further lends creedance to the (unlikely) reunion theory
