Considering Axl's 2002 VMA statement. It was shortly followed by a failed tour and the release of VR's Contraband I think we have to say VR won "Round 1" (Whether or not you like Weiland or Slash, Axl barely showed up). Since both bands are "supposed" to release albums again soon, is this "Round 2"?  And shouldn't the winner be decided by who has the better album, not who says what about the other?

on this board GnR will win, even if they never released anything ever again. VR doesn't have Axl for a singer, so in most eyes, they suck. It's sad really.

not really a bad thing mind you, it's great Axl has such loyal followers. And i consider myself one of them, but some of the members have the "If it's not Axl...It's Crap!!!" attitude, which is unfortunate. There is tons of great music available that Axl doesn't have anything to do with.

I wonder what would happen if Bono or somebody got in a row with Axl nervous some of you may explode with shear indecision

Round 1 was definitely a TKO, but that was Axl's fault, and no one elses. Round 2 is picking up steam, and if CD isnt released in the very near future, not only is it a knock out, but he will have to be 'carried out of the ring'.

Don't worry, if that happens, he'll be back.

so ifthat was round 1, whats round 2? Leaked demos? is there a strategy in terms of what constitutes a round? because if the VMAS 02 was round 1, thats not a great start to the campaign  hihi

I think we are the ones who are gonna win whenever the albums are out.
It's cool to see the rock n' roll attitude coming from Axl and Scott...... but I can't really see ?what they're gonna win or lose (except for making the fans excited to hear the next statement). We're still gonna buy both albums and go to their concerts whenever possible, right?
I'm inclined to agree more with Axl... and be on his side. I just don't know what the prize is for whoever wins this.
I don't see Axl and Slash losing anything..... they're both always gonna rock and never lose their fans even if they decide to work at Wal Mart.

At the end of the VMA's Axl shouted "Round 1" and threw the microphone down.. I would think the press release & weiland's response start off Round 2.

yeah I know, perhaps it was more of a rhetorical type question to illustrate what a farce the Round 1 statement was

Round 2 hasn't started yet...the corner men are still patching Axl up from round 1.  Then he'll knock 'em out from the get-go when the bell sounds. (I hope Tongue)

uh...when did VR form???  wasn't it in 2003/2004 BEFORE the VMAs?

why do the rounds have to do with GN'R vs. VR?  i think it was round 1 of his comeback?

Let's just hope that each round is not separated by 3-4 years.
