Do you think that this means he's recorded the vocal using the higher register from Rio and '02?

The Boston promo from years back sounded like the usual Axl, as did SCOM on Big Daddy.

I'd always assumed he sang that way during the 2002 tour to not damage his voice while the rest of the band meshed together.

Maybe I was wrong.

i think he means it will not sound like his previous works, so many years have passed and his thoughts are different on many things so who knows. you can pretty much tell with madagascar and the blues

That's what i thought at first, but then i thought about the Queen comment and I'm convinced it'll be the "new voice".

Maybe he can't recreate his old vocal style and that's part of his being so hesitant to put stuff out?

I will admit that the studio and the stage are night and day to each other.

I don`t know how he will  sound in the CD album, but if you think about it The Blues for exaple is very similar to Queen sound.

I hope it's better too! He couldn't hit the high stuff the way he used to be able to back in the day...I personally think he'll use that voice in the studio too.

The Boston promo and the IRS demo sounds fantastic.

But, one was old school and one was new high voice.

the IRS demo is just fine. His vocals are awesome on that. He DOES hit higher notes then before but it sounds cleaner. Performing live is a whole different art and there I must agree he sometimes slips. His stage presence is always awesome tho and thats the main thing really.

What do you mean by "old vocal style"?

The one at the end of the UYI tours?

cuz I believe his throat and vocal cords were pretty abused by that point. and who knows he may have even had lessons to sing more from his diaphram than his throat to avoid that type of damage again. He'll sound better than ever, if anything. (I'm thinking a mix of vocal ranges from AFD, the experience of UYI's, and a new polished feel that we've never heard before, his voice sounded awesome when I saw them in 2002)

In short I think it'll sound like him

Remember too that he prolly listens, indepth like , to the recordings like 3 times a week or more, so I'm sure, to him, he sounds nothing like he did in the 90's. And for sure we'll hear a bit of a difference, but when I hear a new GnR song, I'm pretty sure I'll know that it is Axl, I can't say it with 100% confidence i guess cuz I have no idea what it'll sound like but.....I'll know.

I'm sure the rest of you will too. ok

NoNoNo!
It's not him who thinks it doesn't sound like Axl or GNR. But, he predicts some people will say so.
it just means he knows what some of you are saying about him and new GNR.

Amen to duga n Dont Try Me about the heavenly IRS voice and about the high notes.

Precisely, can anyone tell me on what old song he hit top F# stronger than on IRS, when he says "true/ too" on the "it's like a crime you know it true/ too" line?

As for the Queen comment, he says Some of the arrangements are a bit like Queen. polly dramatic.
The reference is to the arrangements and he won't sound like Freddie, I guess.

I'm a bit high at the moment but wouldn't it be cool if one of the songs would be like a tribute to Freddie, Brian May's guitar work could be on that song

I also like Axl's "new" voice, in I.R.S. his 10 second "true" scream is just amazing
