Because there are so many new posts about CD, people seem to think it's a done deal. Now, I want this album as much as everyone else, but let's be realistic. I'm not saying it wont come out, but I am saying it's not certain to come out.

Let's look at some of the facts:

-The Korn party and Axl's interview: Because Axl is out in pubic and gives an interview, very good sign.
-Tommy and Slash's comment.

Now for the bad:

-Five years ago GN'R played RIR3 and people thought it was comming out then.
-Axl said at RIR3-(paraphrase) "We'll see you next summer with a whole new bunch of songs."
-No release date set. The new RHCP has a release and it's not comming out until the summer.

So, in conclusion, as much as all of us NEED!!!! this album, don't feel too let down if '06 comes and goes without the new album. But let's keep our fingers crossed

You can hold the phone while I continue to believe its coming this year. For one thing, his attitude concerning the project has obviously changed. He's not trying to make The Wall, Dark Side of the Moon, and Physical Grafitti combined. Also, the reasons for delaying it are running out. He knows that everything like this reaches the point of 'put up or shut up', and that time is now due. The band's present and future are at risk, and i doubt he is willing to tarnish his legacy/reputation simply over stage fright. The world isnt going to explode if CD comes out and a few people hate it. He must realize this. one or two journalists not liking it and a few wackos at a message board hating it dont mean shit. The time is long overdue to put the GNR legacy back in its proper place.

The New Red Hot Chili Peppers album is coming out in May, like the 9th or the 19th. That's not quite the summer.

i guess axl?s not the only one who changed his attitude hihi

it seems that it`s actually coming this year....but you also have to remember that it?s uncle axl we?re talking about. a little healthy negativism is never out of place....

Axl' s quote was that we will hear music this year, right?  My cynical side says "I've already heard a lot of music this year!"  I'll believe the hype when I have the album in hand.

What makes 2006 more of a time to "put up or shut up" than 01, 02, 03, 04, 05 ??

I don't think you can apply any logic to the process of creating this album.

I think it's very very possible the album wont come out this year. I think it's possible it will. As of right now I dont see it as being any different from any other year.

I just hope for the best and roll with it.

Pretty much my attitude. We've been through so many disappointments over the years that even if they announce the album, I won't be truly convinced until it's in my CD player...

I always have and always will have a pessimistic optimisim about this band-common sense always tells you it shouldn't happen, but you retain the hope that it can. That said, i'm still leaning towards a more optimistic stance that this might really be it-because Axl himself finally said something. and i agree with james, it appears his attitude (in so much as you can glean someone's feelings from a brief magazine article) has changed for the better-the bitterness towards the old band is apparently not as fervent anymore, and it seems like he recognizes he cant please everyone with CD at this point. I also agree that this year is more put or shut up simply because i don't think the other band members (in particular tommy and richard) will wait much longer-in years past, they would accept delays because they still got paid rather well for what amounted to just studio work for the most part-that stopped-and now they have other opportunities which can earn them bread

@NickNasty06: Vengeance: totally agree. +there are some other things like RIR making it more possible... it think axl?s festival comment for example wasn?t said by accident.

it was '04, so there are still the years '03 and '05: ok:  but it`s different this time. in that statement he entioned CD in only ONE sentence and he used the word "hope". this time it`s "will" ( well i know that one can interpret "music" in another way as well...  noone knows for fact that he was talking about CD)
