I recall we were discussing a while ago about what kind of protection there may be on Chinese Democracy.

Well, the recent issue of RS had this to say:

"An increasing number of major CD releases are saddled with restrictive copy protection that not only limites the number of copies of an album that can be burned but is also incompatible with Apple's Ipod - the country's most popular MP3 player by far.? For now BMG's and EMI Music's labels are the only ones to release copy-protected discs.... Universal, the world's largest label, says it opposes current protection methods. ? Warner Music group would not comment on whether it will use copy protection i the future."

so that'd be good news for those of you who are hoping to rip CD to your ipod.? Wink

edit:  eh... i think so - i guess there is a chance that they "oppose current methods" because they want to make them stricter?? Huh

No matter what copy protection gets used, it will be cracked.

There are ways around them. First hold down shift and it by passes the restriction. #2 just extract the songs to your computer burn them to cd-r, take the cd-r and put that on your i pod. ?The sad thing is, these idiots that put copyright protection on cds dont realize that is a huge reason people steal music bc they cant put those songs on their I Pod so they DL illegal mp3s so they can do that.

It's so stupid. Copy protection makes it harder for the people who actually bought the album to put it on their mp3 players.

Thanks a lot record companies!

It's like making a car alarm that makes it harder for the owner of the car to use it, than to actually stop the thief.

So I hope there's no copy protection on any GN'R releases in the future. I also hope that everybody here is fan enough to actually buy the albums, DVDs, videos etc that they put out.

Once there's a release date for CD people will start asking for mp3s of the album tracks. You won't be able to find any links on this board. That's for sure.

It's been cracked already. Just turn off autoplay in the registry.< This will work for all copyright protected music.
