mary weiland speaks out about rumors

VELVET REVOLVER frontman Scott Weiland's wife, Mary Weiland, has released a statement in response to last week's Associated Press story in which "family obligations" and album "pre-production work" were cited by VELVET REVOLVER spokeswoman Kristine Ashton-Magnuson as reasons for the group's decision to cut short their overseas tour.

The band, which features former members of GUNS N' ROSES and the STONE TEMPLE PILOTS, launched their European tour on June 3 in Germany, and will perform shows through July 2, including an appearance at rock guru Bob Geldof's "Live 8" charity event in London. However, VELVET REVOLVER scrapped the final five gigs they had scheduled from July 3 through July 10.

A newspaper and television station in Finland reported that the band had split, but Ashton-Magnuson disputed those reports.

"The band has not broken up," she said. "In fact, they're coming back to the U.S. early to start the next record." She didn't elaborate on the nature of the "family" matters or why the band had booked a tour if they knew they needed to be in the studio to work on their second album.

Mary Weiland's statement in response to the Associated Press story reads as follows:

"In response to the Associated Press piece last week, Scott Weiland's family obligation is to myself and his children. As for Finnish TV and any so called 'rock critics' involved in a pool on my husband:

1. That's so early '90s
2. You can kiss my ass."

she's probably right there with him, it had been said they were with wives on tour at times.. Being he kicked the drugs they must have tight bond to look out for eachother or her for him.. It's nice she said something.. I like how she stands behind him and the band..

Don't they know they're giving the media, or whatever name you want to give them, exactly what they want?  They want them to squirm, and they're taking the bait.  The best thing to do is to let it go.

Sometimes, they don't.

Scott is an intelligent man who has, publically humilated the medias, and more than once.

Words can do more harm than punch ups and scott has hurt their egos.

They won't let go, and medias can destroy a reputation, but can also sometimes do much worse.

In this couple's case, i think they should fight back.

Mary is feeling the need to defend her family, I feel it's a good read and if she feels it was something she has to do so be it.   Nice to hear from a wife of one of the members of the band.

not true man just because I say hey you're fucking wrong doesn't make it any more true or not.. The idea is to try and nip it in the butt and say hey all is well... it's nice for the fans too....

I know I said I can't ONLY VIEW THE TOP 100 so I had no idea where it wqas beyond that, this is why I said 150, by now it's much worse I'm sure

Anybody who dosn't defend thier family dosnt deserve them. She did the right thing
