wewll in last 10 ten there were a lot of speculations about guns n roses!!!
especialy in 1993-1999 there were a lot of people whose said al ot of bad things about guns n roses!!!
But from 1999 we could see that gnr became "IN" again.tin period 1999-2005 gnr got a l;ot of new fans, aespecialy after rio show and usa tour!!!But theere are the facts about my topic, why gnr is one of the biggest bands in the world:

-2001 rock in rio-250000 people came to see Axl Rose and new gnr
-2002 gnr were the finishing act on wma
-2002 they had usa tour without new album and promotion, and more lot of arenas were soldout or nearly soldout(chicago, toronto, new york, denver, philadelpfia)
-since 2002 gnr old albums were on the top usa and europe selling lists
-2004 gnr greatests hits were one of the best selling rock albums in the year(in uk had position 1,in usa 3)
-2005 gnr old albums are on the top of the charts

there were more bands playing rock in rio in 2001.  Gn'R was just the headliner.  There probably would have been 250K+ there no matter what.

But your right, people still (and always will) axl rose.

The old band is absolutely mythic. We all know it.
The new one has no existence yet and it's not really the real deal but we have to do with it. No choice. Even if I think they are good, they will never be nowhere near of the old band and will never sell? as much records or have a so big impact on people. You know, I don't want to bash Robin but I can't see him beeing a huge Rockstar ala Slash. The gap is enormous between the two. It's a huge step behing concerning the TALENT. More generally the new GN'R is? a much less charismatic band than the old one. The new band is just all about Axl. The old band was all about a phenomenal chemistry between its members. You can't "replace" it. When it's gone, it's gone. The magic doesn't live 2 times. The best is behind us. Let's face it. Good luck to the new band though. I hope CD will sell 20 million copies.

The best is behind us, as far as the old GNR goes. Alot of ppl have msconceptions that Axls trying to pick up where the old GnR left off, I strongly believe that the new GnR is going to start off on a clean slate as a new band. I js think they played the old songs in concert as a way to be in rememberence of the old band and show the world that this new band kicks fuckin ass. And Im extremely excited about what the new band is going to bring us  peace

i think that it's too early to talking about "sucess of the new band" because they haven't realised anything!!!
They had one little tour, but the most of fans were fans of the old band!!!

i was talking guns n roses(and for me guns n roses=newgnr + old gnr)

Maybe back in 1991-93 during the HUGE world tour they were but all of there recent sucess is based from there past music history..... peace  Dont get me wrong because im the biggest supporter or the current Axl and co but the GH cd being very popular dident have any new songs....they have been recording or working on the CD for over 10 years..well 10 Yrs since a album or new material.....U could say that GNR are the most hyped band that hasent released any new material in the world..sad but true....Hopefully that will all change soon. ok

Don't forget that in 1999, Rock Music was in a terrble cycle. Rock was barely inexistant. However, for about 2 years, Rock music has come back. Bands like Franz Ferdinand, Coldplay, White Strips, The Strokes, The killers, Green day, Velvet Revolver etc...topped the charts in 2004/2005. It would have been impossible in 1999. Axl should take this new Rock wave to release CD. The timing is perfect.

GNR of now is not one of the biggest bands in the world, I hate to say it but it's true.   GNR from 87-93 WAS.  Now, it's the GNR name that is still big and always will be.  You can't call the NuGNR the biggest band in the world when we have heard and seen so little from the new formed band.

yes, as soon as there is no album, it's true. But I think it could change once CD is released.

right now new gnr is none existant to the real world, so they are not anything in the size of bands today.. The gnr name is still huge today being retro is so trendy right now and their music is all over the radio.. I hope someday we see where the new band will rank among today's music
