Take this for what its worth but apparantly Robbie Williams will be joined on stage at the opening of Live 8 in London with everybodys favourite guitarist... Slash, they are allegedly going to open the show with............ wait for it............. a rendition of We Will Rock You. Bring on comparisons with the Freddie Mercury Tribute concert performance of the same song with Axl singing.

True it doesnt have anything to do with the current Guns n Roses, but it has something to do with Axl and his past performance of We Will Rock you at the Freddy Mercury Concert, that is why i posted it in here. Bit of a stupid issue to get worked up about, i just thought people would like to know.

Live 8 will be opening with McCartney and U2 singing "Sgt Peppers Lonely Hearts Club Band".

For those of you who are interested in why it will be opening with that song - I suggest you look up the first lyric.

Dunno where the Robbie/Slash rumour came from but it's a load of bullshit - it's probably got something to do with the April Fools/Stoke on Trent thing.

Cheer up mate! Mods will do that.

I also find nothing wrong with your contrasting the 2?
your imaginary contrasting Slash with Brian May and Robbie Williams with W Axl Rose.  Fun hihi hihi

The point being is, that with nothing at all going on in the GNR world of late it gets harder and harder for someone to create a thread, and when people do they seem to get slammed by people who think they have the right to put people down because they have 2000 plus posts of nothing but verbal rubbish, if people like JONX didnt make the effort there wouldnt be a board or maybe just a dead horse section.

I agree with Spuddy. You shouldn't insult people for trying to create a discussion on a message board. Nothing has happened in the GNR world for years. You should thank someone for creating something to discuss. And if you dont like a certain thread, instead of insulting the creator of the thread, move on to the next one.

Ok lets all just forget that i made this topic. The point i was making was that what Robbie Williams and Slash are doing is very similar to what Axl and Queen did during the Freddy Mercury Tribute Concert, both members of Guns n Roses are performing the same song with different musicians. In 1992 it was Axl who had the opportunity to shine while singing the song, now in 2005 Slash will/would have the opportunity while playing it.

I was just trying to create a topic of discussion about the above. But according to Gigger who is way more reliable than myself the Slash Robbie thing is not going to happen. Therefore I see no need for this topic, everyone is flaming each other, i dont want to have any part in that. Mods can you please delete this topic?
