I will get all wrapped up. Because im pissed at a lot of people on this board. Everyone thinks GNR are so popular (which they are) but that?s old skool GNR. I've been to about 10 concerts where people were talking about GNR, and all anyone knows is Axl has a new band and they think they suck. I was always the one who spoke up and told everyone the down low on the new GNR. And I?m sick of sticking up for Axl. I used to really like the man, and believed in what he was doing. But it?s becoming a joke now. And no way in hell will he ever be able to dig himself out now, no matter how good the album is. That?s why we don?t have Chin Dem.

Whatever. I like what you said in the first post.

You don't have to stick up for Axl. You don't have to like him or believe in what he is doing.
When you don't like the music, that's that isn't it?  Huh

I'm keyed up about this band since I heard a new song, just like the ppl of mid '80 who first found the unknown lil band called itself Guns n' Roses. That's that.

I can support axl himself and not see this band as gnr..
But Axl isnt flying solo. He has a band. Thats the difference. Many people here actually like and support the band as well as Axl.

I would say I'm more of an Axl fan. I don't mind the new band, they were great live, but I went to see Axl not the rest of them.

Personally I would prefer the old band (as most of us would I'm sure) but anything with Axl on vocals is cool with me. And since the old band is NOT getting back together, I guess i'm cool with the new version. And whatever version it is, it's still GnR, because Axl says so. And Axl is the driving force in the band. (He's not driving too fast though ?hihi )

The current era of GNr will always be a joke until Axl releases ther album and lets the music be the focus. The people can judge Axl and this band based on that rather than speculation and false starts or whatever. A kickass single/video and a great album will be the way out of that "hole"

Exactly, he needs to release this album and let the fans really sink their teeth into NuGNR.  Maybe then Axl and his band can get the respect of not only their peers but us, the fans as well.   He sure isn't getting it the way things have been going the last couple of years and the more years that go by, the bigger the hole.   For me, I think as great as this album can be, I still will favor old GNR as that is what I grew up with in my teenage years and my early 20's and will forever be devoted to that era of GNR.

but I went to see Axl not the rest of them.
Unfortunately Axl and the new band havnt given much for peopel to see them and not just Axl. So naturally you were there for Axl first.

IMO, theres no problem in which era you favor. If you grew up with old gnr then naturally your gonna have a softer side with them than new. With that being said, that doesnt mean you cant enjoy the new stuff and enjoy the new band when it comes out.

Hopefully when its all said and done, GNr will have 2 eras that achieved musical greatness. Theres no reason why you couldnt like both.

Yes, I agree you can absolutely favor one but still enjoy the other.  I just wish I could have the opportunity to enjoy the other already.

Theres no reason why you couldnt like both.

The era of Black Sabbath without Ozzy sucked; Ozzy sounded best with Randy alive and in the band; Aerosmith blew without Joe Perry...........People will always choose one over the other. Thats why it's called TASTE!

it really matters when you become a fan of a band to who is the real band, if you became a van halen fan in 1985 you would be more for sammy haggar because that' s what you know.. If you became a KISS fan when animalyze came out you wouldn't know ace..

If you are someone young who found gnr out over the past 5-6 years I can understand you not really caring about the older guys because you might have been introduced to gnr through new gnr.. Yiou found it like that and it seems normal, but if you are around 30 or better I can't see wanting a replacement over the real thing.. You love what you grew up with and that's the way it is most of the time..

Mike,
How long had they stayed your version of the "original" band after they became your fav lineup?

So many men so many minds?
To me a band is about the music (not the genre/style) and the spirit.

I really don't see what the problem is favoring the old band.   Why to some people is that a bad thing?  If NuGNR release's CD and tour and all the material is great and people like then that's cool but you can still favor the old band and it not be a disrepect to Axl.
No matter how many people in the band came and went, still to some people the original will always be the best peace
