smaller venues would be great

Last night i went and seen collective soul an a bar about 1300 people there and it was fuckin incredible im a big collective soul fan and the atmosphere of a small venue was incredible. It got me thinking that GNR should do smaller venues I know part of being a big band is the big arenas but nothing beats the atmosphere of a small venue packed with die hards. just wanted to see what some people think?

They should have done what Slash suggested in support of TSI and played smaller venues..

I think with the vastness of the CD project, it will all have to be presented on a large scale..

Big songs, big videos, big concerts, big press and exposure = big success? we'll have to wait and see I guess

I would prefer smaller venues...more opening acts and the feature artist doesn't normally hit the stage until 12:15...which is pretty much "axl time" yes...he could actually be on time (for real for real) LOL! Good Lord, wouldn't that be a trip...LOL

Smalle venues mean less posibilities to get a ticket to a show.... . If you don't consider this, it certainly would be great to see a gnr show in a  small venue or theatre (warfield like in ycbm, etc etc)

I think having some shows in a few small venues would be a great Idea, kinda getting word of mouth around about their return. Also they should do some Mtv live show or vh1 live shows, like an unplugged or some shit. Ya know right after the album is released. Fuck it why not, let ppl get a little up close and personal with this new GnR

Itll be great publicity for Chinese Democracy as well as the new line up.

The last tour was very impersonal.

The should do a "Chinese Democracy Album Tour". Go to theatre and clubs..play the record in its entirety.

Maybe add in a few GNR classics. It should be 90% new material.

Welsh, I agree 100 percent. They should only play new material. John Fogerty did this same thing in the 80's because he didn't want to play CCR material. This is a perfect idea. Axl, are you listening?

It won't be a small tour in small clubs because the album will be massive and they will need cash to support it (the band, Axl, the record company etc...).
Also, they are probably planing something big so in big cities they will play either Arenas or Stadiums. Maybe a couple of small clubs will happen in small cities...but definitely not in big ones.

I agree 100%
Smaller venues are better for the fans and  better  to build  a fan base  for the band as word  spreads. Given the debacle of the 2002 tour, Axl would  be well-served to start the  new  tour in smaller venues (assuming there will be one, ever) and then build on that, much as VR did in 2003-2004.
