Get In The Ring!

« Reply #40 on: March 17, 2005, 03:59:01 PM »

i so dont think he done it 4 publicity because he probly wud have liked his idol to call him up an offer him advice wen he was struglin with drug abuse,an i suppose he probly felt a bit responsable cus he was famous 4 doin drugs an this girl was jus tryin to be like her idol an he wantd to help her.plus i dont think he wud do a publicity stunt with his child sittin ther!

I think it was really nice of him,he cud have turned roun an been a real premadonna an said "im a rockstar i dont have time 4 this" witch is wat a lot of big headed stars wud have done(i can think of 1 in particular) an he probly wantd 2 set a gud example 4 his kid 2.

as 4 it being made a big deal, well i think its stupid that a couple of people on a bord to do with peolpe like him cant make it a big deal!after all thats y we ar all on this board,to talk about things like this an praise our idols as much as we can.

slash is a god in my books an that will never change no matter wat ne1 says.

Rock on peace

Saw this over on melodicrock.com (thanks, Andrew!):

SLASH TAKES TIME TO ANSWER A FAN PLEA FOR HELP:
The following story is brought to you with great pleasure. A long time contact of mine in LA sent this through today - eager to pass on his experience with the legendary Velvet Revolver/ex-Guns N Roses guitarist Slash.
My friend writes: "I was eating at Casa Vega restaurant in Sherman Oaks, Los Angeles yesterday with my best friend. I was trying to cheer her up because her 19 year old daughter has a serious substance abuse problem and won't listen to anyone. Sitting at the table next to us was Slash from Velvet Revolver/Guns 'n' Roses, with his small child. After a little debate as if we should bother Slash, she asked him to please call her daughter on her cell phone because he obviously had beaten whatever demons he had in the past and maybe the kid would listen to him.
Without hesitation Slash asked my friend a couple of questions and left a message for her on the daughters' phone. The daughter has not been answering her phone or returning calls. The daughter returned the calls today and had the first pleasant conversation with her mom in ages. Growing up the mom and daughter's signature song was Sweet Child 'o' Mine by Gun's 'n' Roses. My friend who doesn't cry much shed several tears yesterday. With all the negative publicity "Rock Stars" get I thought this story should be told.
The fact that we bothered someone who was trying to enjoy a peaceful Saturday lunch with his child and he didn't hesitate a bit in any way. He showed actual concern and compassion for the situation. This may have been the turning point in a change for the better. Thanks to Slash for something we will NEVER forget."

Slash is a fucking legend. He should've been made the next Pope.
i fuckin luv him. Slash is the God of Rock. Nevermind Keith or Bono, it's SLASH!!!!! He rules, & every1 who luvs GNR or VR knows dat! ok

Slash is a legend! All this bollocks about that being a publicity stunt is rubbish! He was obviously just helpin a fan. mrlee is right he should get a f**kin monument built in Stoke, man!

Slight bitch tho...
in reply to Intercourse's message of "Slash doesn't give a hot fuck that a few of you out there in Axl Land hate his guts. He didn't do this good deed as some way to get back into your hearts, you are simply not that important to him, none of us are. He's a famous rock star, he's better things to do.
Unbelievable."
i think you are unbeliveable, sir.
one: Slash obviously thinks his fans are important why else would he have taken the call dumbass?!
and
two: even people in "Axl Land" love Slash ok! Just cause theres a few shitheads out there don't tar us all with the same evil brush ok!
It is possible to love and respect Axl AND Slash you know!
