It's safe to say you have nothing to add to this conversation, which is pretty much the norm for your posts.

It's easy looking for posts to poke holes in but never adding anything of substance.

How about creating an original idea or thought of your own so we can sit back and throw in little cute comments like "its safe to say you have no idea what you're talking about" How fucking clever you've only said this in 99% of your posts.  Oh don't forget to throw the final insult of ........ Huh Roll Eyes

Please do us all a favor and stay in the VR section.

Maybe not the next 24 hours but maybe within the next 48 hours?? Remember the story from way-back-when that Axl threw himself this big fancy party and when all the guests arrived some guy announced that Axl wasn't coming but that they should all have a great time because he was giving them this party as his gift to them for his birthday.? So maybe Axl will tell us the CD release date as his gift to us for his birthday!!!? Grin

I let my kids listen to Duff and Slash talk,? using them as an example of thats your brain after drugs and alcohol. My thirteen year old says, how could Axl stand them there stupid, there just now figuring out whats happened? I said no, there wifes knew but at the time they were so high, drug and alcoho were more important. But dad, there sick don't they know what they did, they'll never be well again. That's a great example of what drugs do to people.? ?

Hopefully you don't let your kids read your notes. I really think they would enjoy the "there wifes" part. Smiley

Axl saw the writing on the wall concerning his former bandmates for a long time before the band destroyed itself.  Think back to his announcement at the first Rolling Stone show.  He knew then that the band was falling apart slowly.

If you go back and check out the things that were said about Axl back then, he had his vices in check.  Even Slash has said that he has never known Axl to be addicted to anything except cigarettes (which I understand he has since given up as well).

Axl did what he did to keep some sort of unity to the band, maybe he didn't always do the right thing, but, if he had left things in the hands of Slash or Duff, the whole thing would have crashed and burned probably a lot sooner than it did, because those two were way out of control with their substance abuse.

If Axl didn't do something about it, he would have enabled the other members to continue their destructive behavior, and that behavior would have ultimately been damaging to Axl's own career too.  At some point, you have to protect your own interests.

PS:  It doesn't take the mind of a genius to destroy yourself with drugs and alcohol.  If Duff was really a "genius" he would have figured this out BEFORE his pancreas exploded.   It's just my opinion, of course, that it's not really very brilliant to let yourself get so far out of control that your body parts are exploding.   nervous

I dont know. The Lies era was getting really embarrasing for the band because of Axls lyrics getting negative attention. The "wife beating has been around the past 10000 years" on the Lies early covers (i wonder whose idea that was?) degrading bandmembers on stage, showing up hours late for every show. The somewhat cheesy Patience ballad, which noone in the band liked.

The band objected to all this but Axl didnt listen...except to change the Lies album cover. All these things hurt the band alot more than Slash and Duff's drinking problem IMO. They still showed up on time.  To say Axl is the only one that kept the band together is pretty untrue. You should give the entourage of roadies, and the allure of cash credit for that.

Just a question about the post here. Have any of you people thought to yourselves that when Merck says "Slash and Duff won't delay CD" that it could mean that it ain't coming out that soon anyways and they can have court appearances and everything and get it all straightened out before CD is acually ready for release in the first place? I know in my heart that this will be the year that CD will come out, and it's just a question I've thought to myself about. It's one of those sayings that you can think about either way. Like it's coming out before any of this law suit crap takes place, or it'll be a while before it comes out anyways so therefore the law suit won't be interfering.

Ive got a lot of posts here.? Youve certainly had many opportunities to make cute comments such as "its safe to say you have no idea what you're talking about"....Theres a reason you havent.? ok (I know that sets you up for a cute comment of your own, but I think you know what I mean? Wink).? As for that comprising 99% of my posts?

its safe to say you have no idea what you're talking about

Now if you want me to explain why thatt poster had no idea what he was talking about, Ill do so...

He did it by essentially threatening to end the band.? Now they could either take that risk, or cooperate the best they could to continue the band.? Seems fairly obvious...

No, its not like that at all.? This is where the "no idea what youre talking about" part comes in, because to our knowledge, Axl simply secured the rights to the name for himself.? They didnt sign away publishing rights or royalties, so its not like "take all my money."? They signed rights to the name, a name they didnt intend on using if the band broke up anyway.? So ten years later, they might be disappointed that they left the name vulnerable for tarnishing, but its not like giving somebody your bank account at all.  Its not what the lawsuits about, either.

Get it now?

Most of the posts that preceded mine, partcularly the ones pertaining to how "stupid" Slash and Duff are.

The somewhat cheesy Patience ballad, which noone in the band liked.

Which was written by the non-cheesy quiet rhythm guitarist at the time.

My guess is that at least Axl and Izzy liked it since one sings on it and the other wrote it. Duff and Slash might have hated it.

The public seemed to like it since it peaked at #10 on the UK singles chart and it was performed at most GN'R shows on the following tours.

that when Merck says "Slash and Duff won't delay CD"
I tell you what, Apparently Merck didn't say "Slash and Duff won't delay CD".
He said "It is business as normal."
The topic title is misleading. Bloody hell.

Merck was simply asked, "Is it business as normal with regards to Chinese
Democracy? Are you still planning as you mentioned last
week?"

To which he simply replied, "It is business as normal."

He didn't explicitly state "Duff and Slash's opposition to Axl's new publishing deal won't interfere with our plans for the album."
