Don't forget how Doug Goldstien came out and said reports of both Duff and Matt leaving the band were "untrue" back in the late 90's. Just because Sanctuary currently denies it means nothing.

That being said- hard to imagine Fortus in NIN. Doesn't seem like a logical fit unless Trent is really going in a rock direction.

Trent now is really going to rock. But it doesn't mean that Richard joined NIN, it only means that NIN's new album will be more 'rock' than anything else they did before.

Like i said in a different thread a week ago or so

any GNR member who is stupid enough to quit now with CD having to be as close to being released as ever would be the stupidest human being on the planet.

I agree acquiesce about the original band but if i can get over the original band, forgive and still support axl then any new member really doesnt bother me either way, cept for more delays.

it took me awhile to get the bad taste out of my mouth and accept that their is a new band with axl and its called GNR, so i honestly could give a shit who makes up this particular band
when it comes down to it, i love Axl and thats bout it! although buckethead was cool as fuck cause he was the "fuck you" to hardcore and casual fans just cause his playing was so impressive people reallycouldnt say shit.

these other dudes will be torn to fuckin shreds by hardcorist, media etc etc.

if u are gonna replace a legend u better be second to none and i just dont feel that with the new guitarists.

I hope it's not true, noy because I happen to love Mr. Fortus (I really don't care if it's him or Mr. Huge "Ono" hihi), but because something like a departure from a member would cause one more year in the making of the genius (no royalties for fortus, 'cause his parts would be rerecorded I guess).

Anyway, It looks like it's not true. Merck has now denied such information, according to blabbermouth confused.....

"Manager: RICHARD FORTUS Has Not Quit GUNS N' ROSES - Jan. 20, 2005

GUNS N' ROSES guitarist Richard Fortus has NOT quit the band and joined NINE INCH NAILS, according to Merck Mercuriadis, CEO of Sanctuary Group, which represents GN'R and a slew of other artists, including IRON MAIDEN, SLAYER and SLIPKNOT.

Contacted by an administrator at MyGNR.com, a GUNS N' ROSES discussion forum, regarding the rumor that surfaced earlier today about Fortus leaving to hook up with Trent Reznor and Co., Mercuriadis allegedly shot down the report, stating that there is "no truth to it."".

Well, maybe it's like this: the GNR camp is creating rumours themselves to get attention. They seem to be quit quick with denying this rumour, when normally we don't hear anything about rumours. Now with a denial press will start to write about this rumour. They need press to get back in the game again. Maybe the ball is already rolling, maybe they are creating all the rumours themselves, and deny them instantly. Which brings attention to who is in the band and who's not so that more people start to learn who's the new GNR....

or maybe that's just too far fetched.

« Reply #24 on: January 21, 2005, 08:17:27 AM »

Is it just me or have we heard a bunch of rumors in the last few days? I say if nothing else, at least this may force Axl to make another statement... I hope. Even though that last statement was complete b.s., at least it was something. It's kind of sad... the only time we hear anything from Axl is when something bad happens.

Its because of the 2 most annoying and disgraceful gnr forums. MYGNR and that rumor board thing. I hate these 2 boards with a passion. I never seen a board with more rumors and rumblings and sources per day than these 2. Its pathetic. And the sad thing is people buy into it. I wish we could ban those 2 message boards from the gnr community. Mygnr is a waste of space. Nevermind the bullshit rumors and stuff from them, just read the topics and what th epeople have to say. No clue.

Not that I'm a fan of those boards either, but to be fair didn't this rumour come from the NIN Hotline? I'd be interested to know how they picked up on this

True, Scabbie. Blabbermouth is not innocent either.

Who originally started this quite an original story @ The NIN Hotline?

Richard Fortus, the phenomenon

« Reply #31 on: January 21, 2005, 12:52:29 PM »

this BS rumour is extremely funny  hihi
Seeing such a great guitar player, and a rocker, like Fortus, joined such a mediocre band like NIN, and the total opposite of a Rock band (indus/gothic and all that crap), is ridiculous. Richard Fortus can play in better bands...in GN'R for exemple. That's where he is and he is the perfect guitarist for this band. End of story for me.

Excellent point - i've thought the exact same thing.
Buckethead was the only member who could forge a new distinct direction, and like yoiu say, replacing a guitar god (Slash) youd better be able to bring something amazing to the table...

Contacted by an administrator at MyGNR.com, a GUNS N' ROSES discussion forum, regarding the rumor that surfaced earlier today about Fortus leaving to hook up with Trent Reznor and Co., Mercuriadis allegedly shot down the report, stating that there is "no truth to it."

THEY REVEALED THERE TOURING LINEUP JAN.6

According to a posting at The NIN Hotline, NINE INCH NAILS mainman Trent Reznor has spoken to Kerrang! magazine about his new band, confirming that Jeordie White (a.k.a. Twiggy Ramirez, A PERFECT CIRCLE, ex-MARILYN MANSON) and Jerome Dillon (drums) are on board, along with "newcomer guitarists Ralph Dieter and Alessandro Cortini."

The group's new CD, entitled "With Teeth", will contain 12 tracks, and is said to be "more song-orientated" than "The Fragile", which was described in the article as "instrumental soundtracks for movies that haven't been filmed yet." Said Trent, "I wanted to hone my songwriting skills with melodies and hooks." Trent also added that he ditched the original working title for the new album, "Bleedthrough", because "people were thinking about blood or a tampon commercial."

"With Teeth" is tentatively scheduled for an April/May release via Nothing/Interscope, according to the magazine, which is promising a longer interview and article in next week's issue.

In other news, a brand new posting at NIN's official web site indicates that the band "will be announcing the first round of U.S. tour dates in the near future. For access to ticket pre-sales, make sure you are registered with the NINE INCH NAILS mailing list."

I really don't like this...

This whole thing just kind of sucks.  I really hope that it's a rumor.  And, I know that management has denied the rumor that Richard is leaving, but they were also denying the then rumor that Buckethead was leaving... then, the next thing we knew, Buckethead was definitely gone.

Rumors start somewhere.  They always can be traced back to something.  Most of the times, it seems that tracing the origins of rumors regaurding Guns N' Roses leads us all to some ass just trying to get friends on a message board by posting the "I've heard it!" or "This is the first single!" or, my personal favorite, "Axl recorded [insert name of Led Zeppelin song here] with [insert name of ANY musician] for [insert random blockbuster movie]'s soundtrack!!!" type bullshit.

Some rumors, though, actually do have something factual to support them.  Any time I hear of a rumor of a band member leaving, I get nervous.

from the ninhotline:

Finally, we've received official confirmation of who will really be filling the guitarist spot in the live NIN lineup: Aaron North, formerly of The Icarus Line. That's right, nobody from Guns 'N Roses will be performing with Nine Inch Nails this time around. You heard it here first!

Shame.. I would have preferred Fortus.. Wink

How many roads must a band walk down before you call?em a band? Gee!

IMO. If Axl wanted a band just for his backup, he would have called it "Axl Rose and whateverband".
I expect the band that made Chinese Democracy to be the most chinese Democratic one ever.
The components are very important that If a member, if any, didn?t believe in the band and the goal he should leave. Gee ho!

However, to do odd works outside the band is completely another thing. That?s good to acquire new experience. Now that it?s not happening this time,  it's not long odds against this interval ending by the time NIN tours, maybe?
