Pretty good for a record without any new tracks...

And a wise move of Axl, to hold on to the GNR name...

Can someone clarify (with certainty and/or source) how many records GH has sold compared to Contraband?

Also, refresh my memory...when did each debut again? I didn't buy either.

I have a $100 bet with a buddy of mine going on that after one year of release CD will sell better than Contraband. I'm seeing him for NYE tonight and would like to use this GH comparison in my favor when the subject come up.? ok

N?2)? ?Norah Jones - Feels Like Home,Blue Note - 10.022.000 copies
N?19) Norah Jones - Come Away With Me Blue Note - 3.516.000 copies
Total 2004 = 13.538.000 copies

That's what I call a successfull artist? yes
the album "come away with me", released in 2002, has sold over 22 million copies worldwide for 2 years Shocked
the album sold 18.5 million copies when it was released in 2002/2003 + over 3.5 million copies in 2004.
And Norah Jones has never had any big promotion. No videoclips, no MTV etc... just good music, it's really great for her.

Uh...I think I remember a video for "Don't Know Why." Still, I see your point. Her music, however, is of a very distinct style (stands out in the pop scene). Axl's music (unique within the genre as it may be) is still classified as rock and there are far more artists of that genre to compete with.

Nice to see a breakthrough artist doing well, though.
