Tom Waits has gotten a lot of respect from the critics in the music industry for his songwriting , but as far as being listenable, I don`t see it. He wasn`t gifted with being a great vocalist.

A friend of mine told me this song, "Watching My Children" was amazing with the most touching voice n lyrics ever.
As a matter of course it was actually "Waltzing Matilda", Tom Waits masterpiece. Bahahah!!!?
FYI?

He?s an actor as well. He?s been worked with Coppola, Jim Jarmusch and such both on music and acting in many films like Rumble Fish, Down by Law, Bram Stoker's Dracula etc.
This bit I nicked from some article would describe an artist well.
Tom Waits is just naturally eccentric. Although in his early 50s, Waits manages to look like a 100-year-old beagle. A legend in his own right, who shows us the crooked beauty of dissonance, Waits always comes across like the guy who?s got the blues so bad, he?s ready to sell his soul for another glass of whisky.
As a musician, he?s in a league of his own. His masterful, yet disturbingly odd, improvisations result in songs of sheer melancholic beauty ? delivered by one of the raspiest voices in the business. As an actor, his characters take on a life of their own. He?s the notorious outlaw, the washed-up hobo with a rough charm.

Waits, who will make a rare television appearance Tuesday (Sept. 2 on CBS' ''The Late Show With David Letterman,'' will be backed on the road by bassist Larry Taylor, guitarist Marc Ribot and percussionist Brain. All three appear on ''Real Gone,'' Waits' 20th album and fourth for Epitaph Records imprint Anti-.

Can somebody explain me how can Brain play with such an asshole like Buckethead who betrayed Axl and only joined GNR to get a deal with $anctuary?

I donno but I assume one?s friends aren?t all friends to each other and Buckethead must be an amazing robo more than being an asshole.
I think Brain had a lot to gain from the works with Uncle Tom.
