Axl has the best voice of all time. And no I'm not just saying this b/c he is my favorite. He has so many different voices, no one can touch him. His vocal range is just unbelievable. I can't wait for the new album b/c Axl needs to show everyone how to belt it out right. I just cant even imagine how great his voice is gonna sound.

"On 'Chinese Democracy,' Axl delivers more soulful singing. You really get to hear some different tones in his voice which don't lend themselves to traditional bluesy riff-rock. And the lyrics are a lot more in-depth, with deeper sentiment and emotion than some of the earlier stuff."? Tommy Stinson

This quote gets me pumped for this album a lot. I cant fuckin wait.? Axl rules!!!!!

Anyway, here is my top 5:

1. W. Axl Rose
2. Robert Plant
3. Sebastian Bach
4. Steven Tyler
5. Layne Staley

Maynard James Keenan is the best singer in the world today. Bar none.

I like Mike Patton. He was great but seeing him with Tomahawk last year or the year before I was very disappointed. His music is too experimental nowadays (although I haven't heard him sing on the Fanotoma's album)

Sebastian Bach Is fucking amazing!!! He definately is not a "screetcher" his voice barely ever cracks and goes into falsceto (sp?) Amazing, amazing, amazing vocal range. I think he was actually doing opera before "the project"

Scott weiland, IMO, is the best singer/songwriter of the '90's (except maybe Cobain) and he has an awesome vocal range too, I don't know why everyone slams his talent all the time.

I hate Chris Corn-Hole I wish he would've stayed out of the music scene, he can't do anything but scream, and he is annoying when doing it.

But seeing Axl in T.O. on the last tour. He is the Man! he nailed every note. I was blown away he's the best singer (besides Maynard) I've ever seen. But you can't really compare the two of them they have totally different styles.

Bret Michaels and Poison were pretty fucking good live too!

Yeah, he can really sing with a true clean voice with amazing range. But to my surprise he can really go into that raspy screeching angry voice, which he does very very well. Last time I heard of him, he was doing broadway.

Maybe he is't given enough recognition here but I have to admit, I just can't get into his voice. He might be talented, but to me, he sounds very unoriginal and bland.

I've been dling FNM, and some of these songs are awesome. Thanks! "Easy" is a great song. Never really listened to Tool or Perfect Circle, other than what's on the radio. Can anyone suggest the best songs?

Also, anyone ever listened to Mark Lanegan? I have only heard his duet with Layne Staley and liked it alot.  If anyone's a fan, can you suggest some of your favorites?

That's cool, its your opinion. personally I've liked him since day 1. From 'core' to his solo stuff to all the cameo's he does to VR. I just think he is amazing. The really great thing is he doesn't just contribute to the vocals but the music in general. (I read an interview w/ Slash and Duff and it said he pulled the songs apart and restructured them for his lyrics). I know its not the place to start arguing about this, but, Madagas there are not many musicians in the '90's with Scott's talent and then it is all a matter of personal opinion. I think he rules. After G'n'R "died" in the early '90s STP and Tool were my fav bands. Hell Tool may even put on a better live show than G'n'R. STP Fucking rocked live too!

Really the way to go about it is to listen to entire albums because Maynard creates an atmosphere for each album that can't be broken down into singles. thats why you don't hear more than 1 or 2 singles from each album. You have to listen to the entire albums to fully appreciate him. My sugestions for albums to listen to are, ALL OF THEM!!! Maybe not opiate though. it's short and kinda rough to listen to. But after you've heard the rest of the the albums you'll wanna hear Opiate then you'll appreciate that album more.? ?Smiley Maynard Rules ok

?nema is probably my favorite Tool song I'd also recommend Hooker With A Penis, 46 and 2,  Lateralus, Sweat, and Hush. Opiate is their best album
3 Libra's is my favorite A Perfect Circle song others worth checking out are Renholder, Judith, Magdalena. I don't have their new album so I can't really say anything about it

I was just listening to the "Don't Cry"  Live & Acoustic '88 performance. And in the end Axl goes from timid to mega scream in such an amazing way that to me he is the best voice ever. I've never heard anyone sing in a way that I get goosebumps everytime I hear the song. It's amazing!!!! He's amazing.....

I love Lanegan's work - I think Troubled Times by the Screaming Trees is Mark at his best

Nice to hear you like Patton in Faith No More -
Try getting:

Mr. Bungle Travolta (or quote unqoute - same song)
Tomahawk - God Hates a Coward
Lovage-Book Of The Month
Faith No More- King For A Day
Faith No More - Gentle Art Of Making Enemies
Faith No More - Kindergarten

Great Patton Material
And that's just an introduction....I travel to see Patton whenever possible - it is my real big musical addiction
