Then it was worse in 2002. Like Buckethead, he doesn't fit with the Rock n' Roll soul of the band Guns n' Roses. This is a human problem. and yeah I have always feel him VERY silencious, very tight, like he wasn't part of the project.

I would say the Money is a  huge factor. not to mention if he is on CD, that will boost his career, instead of being refered to as the primus drummer, he'll be refered to as the GnR Drummer, not to mention the FREE SEX from female groupies/fans.

brain apparently didn't make it to the fuji rock festival and was replaced by herb(also from primus) for the giant robot set and Yoshida Tatsuya for praxis.  Don't know if there is a story or not but he was not there.

Some how I highly doubt that Brain is only in it for the money.? Granted that I don't know anything about the internal workings of the GN'R camp but how much money could he possibly be making with no album out and for playing the short and cancelled 2002 tour?

I don't see anything different comparing Brain to other members. I believe they all get their pay checks. But that doesn't necessarily mean that they are only for the cash. I believe they love/like the music they are composing, although Axl might be the one who makes the last calls about how is it going to be in the end. Bottom of line, it's Axl's band and other members gets the "pay checks" now and then IMO.
