Gimme some fuckin' Democracy

« on: July 22, 2004, 08:29:48 AM »

After watching it on DVD i kinda hope ol' Buckethead does re-join, its the only NEW song where he plays n' does his stuff, like the robot hihi. The other new songs he cant really move n' do his thing to it 'cause their pretty mellow, it made me think when watching it what he would of had planed for all the new songs that we yet to hear, do ya know where im gettin' at Huh

what im sayin' is that its a shame we wont see Buckethead play all the new songs with GNR, it'll be interesting when we hear the new album and hear Buckets parts, but we gotta watch some one els play em' live Undecided

oh well...november beer

Lets get one thing straight... BH is not a creative monster.  He uses obscure chord changes and odd timings occasionally but none of it seems to be for a reason.  It's for the sake of it.  So, BH never impressed me, in any of his albums.  I don't and never did care that he was there or not.  Sure, he can move his fingers pretty fast ... but fuck that... who cares?!

It would have been great to see a bit more of Buckethead in action, GNR is the lesser for losing him - but don't worry too much -  we still have Finck and Fortus! Undecided

Dave - i think you're extremely under-estimating Buckethead's creative guitar playing. Just because you know some power chords and a couple of pentatonic scales doesn't mean you can call Buckethead "not a creative monster...who uses obscure chord changes"......i play myself....BH has 1000% control over the fretboard in ways you and I can only dream of, its not obscure chord changes and odd timings....its called MASTERING THE GUITAR dude.

When they played OMG in Rio 3, didn't Axl fuck up the outro? ON the "woooooohhh....then its on with the show, like the tides out on the ocean..." part, he never sang that, he repeated "If you opened your eyes" before catching on and trying to fix it... then he finished one sentence later than the band stopped. It was fine, i think no one really thought about it, but i'm sure axl did, and i'm sure the band was like "Ha, now he just fucked up!"

Also, this makes me laugh...

...but none of it seems to be for a reason. It's for the sake of it.

You now have to have a reason for each note you play? God, I hope the world never comes to that! That'll be the end of improvisation/jams/fun.

Stick to these chords unless you have good reason!!  rant  hihi

Ah Hah

Dave you obviously are not as well versed in guitar technique as you claim.  buckethead is a monster on the axe and can go rings around guitarist such as petrucci, satch, vai, and even you.  I've been playing guitar for 20 yrs and been studying Big B's guitar scales and modes for yrs even before he was in GNR so don't give me that shit.  And by the way, If that picture is of you playing guitar you have alot to learn my friend.  Get out of the Penatonic box and pull you guitar up to where it isn't at your ankles.  Here are some hints: ionian, dorian, phrygian, mixolydian, altered, diatonic etc.

Oh MY god at RIR3 was pretty good in my opinion. My only complaint was what was with BH and the NUNCHUCKS part of the show? Also most of the time it looks like BH is bored on stage and just standing there, HE did look out of place at times

Lol

Didn't see this before.

Buckethead is one of the finest guitarists the world has ever seen, its taken me awhile to appreciate his style but not only is he technically superb but he can write music for any genre that is fantastically emotive.

As for not being a creative monster - he's been on 200 albums and manages a different style each time (and usually pulls it off pretty well)

It is a real blow he's out of GNR.

That was an awesome part. Watch at the start of the song bucket does those hand motions and Axl is watching him. Its a cool shot. Then he kicks into the solo....

Then in the song he does more hand motions. Its awesome.

As for him looking bored? Um can you see through the mask? When Bucket isnt playing he stands like a robot.....thats part of the character. I guess some peopel will never understand the bucket.....but ya never know you might get a second chance....

I cant stand the nunchucks part.

Its weird, I kinda think Buckethead adds a lot of character because he stands out so much by being this mysterious chatacter that just stands still, while you look at him intrigued wondering what he's all about! So he kinda stands out for not standing out! Does that make sense?

i just downloaded the mpeg of this song from the rio show and it kicks fuckin ass. i love the extra robotic like noises they add to the song.

Also now i do wish bucket would rejoin guns, i dont like his solo material but i think hes a cool addition to guns, i love the whole robotic dancing he does on stage!

I?m avoiding playing this version cause I can't stop replaying it. I like this song every bit, including fucked up bit. There?s so much energy and liveliness in it, primitive yet sophisticated. That stirs the blood.

Come back Bucket~!!! You shine in GNR.
Otherwise?well that's life.....all the best! Cry
