I think it's really great that VR came into the spotlight before GnR and gained alot of exposure.  This way, the majority of casual fans will no longer be mislead into thinking that GnR encompasses the same lineup, including the legendary Slash. If this news come to them at the time the new GnR take the stage, there will be alot of dissapointment and the band will be grilled alive, no matter how good the music is. In fact, this simple fact alone can save GnR much criticism, since the fans know what to expect.

i dont think half of the crowds from the 2002 tour had any idea that the old band wouldnt be their Huh

As for VR, i dont think Axl would give a fuck. IMO im sure Axl's pretty confadent on GNR's material and if or when he does here VR's work im sure it'll give him a total boost of confadence hihi
But in a way it is good that people will start to realise Slash n' Duff are no longer GNR members Undecided

I don't think people would get them confused. I think most people went to the 2002 tour to hear their classics. I doubt more then 10% of the people who went to see the 2002 tour were expecting to see Slash. I don't think VR is establishing Slash is gone from GnR. I think VR is helping younger kids who like Contraband to seek the older Slash stuff from the Guns Era and I believe that is how they are helping Axl

thats a good theory applicable to the casual fan probably who where into gnr and whnen they went under the rader lost track of gnr,  but i think if the material is good then it wont matter and im sure more then half knew that the old members like slash n duff where gone when the tour happened and most where probaby there to see axl

I don't think many people thought they were still together anyway.? Most knew that Slash, Duff, & Matt were gone and Axl had reformed the band promising a new album some time between now and his death.? It's good that VR are getting the exposure because it is also getting Axl publicity whether it be positive or negative.? But in my opinion, Chinese Democracy will spread like wild-fire and would've done so with or without the rise of VR.

I got contraband as soon as it came out, listened to it really happy until 2 days ago, when I put my "it's five o' clock somewhere" and now I can't stop listening to it... what I try to say is that Contraband isn't THE ALBUM, It's just a cool rocker album but not at the same level as Gn'R albums...

When Guns N' Roses release comes out, with that name and the big promotional influences that the new album will get, they will broke some records... this will happen if Gn'R can escape from COMA before this year, or Axl will get fucked up with gnr name as Slash said.

I dont think Axl really cares about VR at all and I dont think people will care as long as the band can play a good tune which they have proved they can play very well and the newish songs are kickass and I love this new band I think Axl has some very great musicians in his band I mean its Axl nothing but the best ok

I am sure he cares. Wether or not he wants Slash and Co to succeed is another thing. I am sure he checks out all the successful rock albums over the last few years, tweaking his sound.

I agree with you on this. Most people know that Slash and the rest are not in GN'R anymore, well that is unless you have been living under a rock for the last 5 years.I will admit I at first had a problem with Axl using the GN'R name, but I don't now.I like VR and GN'R  and I will but the new GN'R album when it comes out,the same way I did with Contraband.I don't think most people dislike VR,it's just the stupid people who don't have an open mind when it comes to music, not us true music fans.
