Hi, I don't know where you live but I live in France and we hear/read more Guns n' Roses stuff now in 2004 in radio stations or magazines than during the last 10 years. In France, Guns n' Roses totally disappeared of media (radio, TV, press) around 1994/1995. Now, we can head classic Guns n' Roses Hits quite often. On the most popular French radio stations, they have played quite often some Guns n' Roses stuff since the begining of the year 2004. A LOT of young teenagers buy Guns n' Roses stuff or discover it. It's pretty cool  Cool
Just a question: Where do you live? is it the same in your country? do you hear more Guns n' Roses stuff today than before?

Yes.

There's been a build up to the greatest hits CD and Velvet Revolver CD for a while now. More stations have been asked/paid to play their songs and videos.

It has nothing to do with trends, it's promotion.

Here in Brazil you see more and more kids (12, 13 years) becoming gunners, GNR ia a very popular band here.

And the radois play GNR a lot, even MTV Brasil.

I listen to internet radio quite often, and I always hear a variety of Guns songs being played.

As for regular radio, I occasionally hear the likes of SCOM on classic rock stations in LA.  VR has certainly helped in bringing Guns back into attention so we're seeing a trickle down effect from that.   I saw many people wearing AFD t-shirts at the VR shows, and on the first day of Contraband being released.

I'm not sure whether GN'R are popular or losing popularity here in Australia.

Greatest Hits (11) is outdoing Contraband (18).

But the main rock stations here say nothing positive about GN'R, it's always negative. Should a GN'R be played, the DJ will always make some comment like "go and retire on some tropical island Axl, give up" or whatever. The other day somebody rang up to promote their GN'R cover show and the DJ and members of the show on air at the time, pissed themselves laughing as if it was some sort of joke.

The fact that they are making GN'R out to be a joke, seems to be rubbing off on the listeners.. each year the main rock station has a battle of the bands where they play two bands songs and you vote one band off.. in the first round, GN'R JUST beat GREEN DAY! And lost in the second round to JET!! Last year GN'R lost first or second round to Pink Floyd!!

Sad sign of the times.

I hear GnR all the time over the last few years on the PURE rock stations. THey like to play GnR because all the other station in my town just play the same top 40 lists. NOt only that but they added a new promo with a few clips of different songs and then they play this before they play GnR on the radio

In Scotland SCOM and PC are played often on local radio and national radio. they don't touch WTTJ etc.

In HMV they are stocked to the teeth with GNR shirts and they sell well but curiously ive never seen one out in the street except mine Huh

all the "popular" guys now claim to like them like "huh huh yeah Nov Rain man"

In Germany Guns N' Roses never really disappeared. They have a big fanbase here. When I was at school from time to time I saw kids listening to GNR and when I'm out in Cologne GNR is everywhere, you just gotta have an eye for it. There are numerous bars which play GNR, one of the (The Cave) sometimes plays whole GNR albums without a break.

Also the rock scene is big here and you can meet lots of GNR fans.

A few days ago I was in a second hand record store and found an old GNR single. I bought it, of course, and the shop owner smiled and said "They're still the best. I wish they'd return."

And since the Greatest Hits album came out, and then VRs album, the music channels play GNR more often and also GNR is a lot more talked about.

Trust me, if GNR would play in Germany, they'd sell out stadiums.

You Lucky Bastard. The clubs I go to see Local or Reginal bands, (Big Bands too like Bret Micheals I seen there) this club has soo many rock bands playing there, but everytime I go inbetween songs they play fucking hip hop and rap. It doesnt make too much sense Rock fans dont want that shit.

Coolest thing I seen was this one bar (10 bells, in Michigan) Was playing full album of Pink Floyd, while they had the Cartoon network on. I dont know if it was the beer or not but the combination of the two was great

This year has had so much stuff involving Guns N' Roses; more than any other year for a long time.  First off, a Guns N' Roses album came out for the first time in 5 years (Greatest Hits came out in March; Live Era in 1999).  The Greatest Hits debuted at number 3 and has sold well here and across the world.  Then, of course, the former members got their shit together and released a solid album, which has been at #1 and near the top since its release.  They've also been on Letterman, will be on Leno, have been touring the country and eventually the world, and have been all over MTV and other music stations.  Finally, Hollywood Rose released a CD of previously unheard material.  So, overall, things are happening.  Now, lets hope that CD can come out and then there will be BOTH G N'r and VR.  This year has been great so far.
