Well as some of you may know I have made a thread like this earlier when the Guns N' Roses:Greatest Hits album was released. It basically talked about how a lot of kids at my school suddenly became big GN'R fans because of it. Well I have another story similar to that.

This summer I'm taking summer school P.E so I could get the credit and get it out of the way so I could take more important classes in the real school year. Well one day I brought the Greatest Hits CD with me to listen to when we're jogging or whenever I got the chance. As I was looking at the tracklisting of the Greatest Hits CD this kid looked at it and saw a song called Civil War. He thought that was a cool name,so he asked me to listen to it. I let him listen to it and he thought it was 'the' coolest song he had ever heard". He said that he loved the singers(Axl's) voice and that he had never heard a voice so cool before. Well the kid starts getting annoying and always asks me to listen to Civil War when I wanted to lsiten to the CD. The kid's obsession with the song became so great that he actually at one point stole my CD player from me to listen to the song, crazy.

These other 16 year olds heard me telling my other friend what had happened and when they heard the word "Guns N' Roses" 3 of them started singing Paradise City and Welcome to the Jungle in a high pitched voice. It was hilarious man.

3 days later I get the Hollywood Rose CD right. So this other 15 year old kid sees me looking at the cover of the CD and sees the small print "roots of Guns N' Roses" on it. He told me he thought GN'R were a cool band so he asked me to lsiten to it. He listened to the first song, "Killing Time", and just kept telling me about "that guy's" voice. He said he thought the vocalist was the best part of the band even though he had only heard 1 song. That same day our class goes in a nature walk to this park near the high school and when we get there I sit in this table and about 5 girls sat down with me,ofcourse (hehe). So one of the girls as nosy as she is starts going throught my sports bag and finds the Hollywood Rose CD. She told me she wanted to listen to it and she did. She said the songs were good. So this other girl listens to it and the first thing she tells me is, "that voice is the coolest voice I have ever heard". I kept hearing that from her. This other girl listened to it cause she saw the name Guns N' Roses on it and she said her dad listens to them and that she liked the band.

So the most shocking thing then came. This guy that has all the 'rap' clothes with the voice,CDs,and everything else told me out of the blue that Guns N' Roses is one of his favorite bands. I was like 'wtf?!" (hehe). He asked if Hollywood Rose was old school,so I said yes. He even read the liner notes for the CD. Damn this week was fucking awesome. I've noticed that ever since the Greatest Hits CD was released GN'R has once again become a 'cool' band with kids like Eminem and Linkin Park. Very shocking when 2 years ago I was one of their only fans I knew. (I'm 14) Also this Korean girl that's 14 told me that her friend's AIM password is "Axl Rose". Rad....

 ok peace

When he was young, Axl Rose had a PHENOMENAL voice. Yeah there was something of Janis Joplin in his voice....definitely.Very raw. It's just a pure Rock n' Roll voice.

Like  I have said before to the people who insist that Axl is viewed as a joke. That is simplynot true. Most people dont even know what is going on in gnr and all the bs rumors and lies.  We know because of these message boards but the  causal music fan, like these kids, have no clue.

Over here down in the South of England Guns are on the up. Im currently in the upper sixth at our local secondary school and since about 5 months ago i have seen loads of people getting into Guns! Ive even given people MP3 CDs of the Ritz show and Pittsburgh show, one of the best i think from the 2002 tour!

For instance a couple of weeks ago i was coming out of the pubs at around 11:30 and we were all walking back through town, the roads were completly void of cars, deserted. Suddenly in the distance you can hear what vaguely sounds like sweet child of mine blaring through a soundsystem. Then this soft top black Jeep speeds down the road with it blaring Guns n Roses full volume, was really really loud. The hundreds of People who had just come out of all the pubs were going crazy, everyone was loving it, singing along giving this driver maximum respect. Its a moment that will stay with me for a long time, it was amazing to see, everyone giving off such a good reaction becuase of a Guns n Roses song!

When Axl releases these albums it is going to be absolutly huge, i truely do believe that. People are so fed up with todays music and the shit that is being force fed to them that they are increasingly looking to the past for better music. In some ways Geffen releasing the Greatest Hits album has thrust Guns back into the spotlight. Axl is someone who produces good music! Just listen to the 30 second tour promo from 2002 with the studio clips, those songs sound amazing.

It has to happen this year, it just has to!

a few month ago, I was in Israel for holidays, we were walking on the street with my parents and we went to a big shopping center in Tel-Aviv and then I stopped walking: they were playing "sweet child o' mine" in the shoping center! I was like "GREAT!". Then I heard "live and let die", wow, they were playing the whole Greatest Hits album! I remember that in 1992/93, Guns n' Roses were absolutely enormous in Israel, they were very popular and in the music shop, there were posters of the band everywhere. I was just in holidays but yeah that was awesome.

Ozzy. Not cool.

Indiana Rose, if your friends like GN'R, good for them.

Personally I really don't care if anyone else besides me is interested in the same music as I am.

yeah, whenever I remember that time (early 90's), I still cannot believe how much everyone in Israel and Lebanon adored GNR.  It was surreal  Smiley

People dont really realize it, but there r sooo many young GN'R fans, I am 16 and the majourity of my friends like Guns N' Roses a lot, when the new album comes out they got nothing to worry about because everyone still knows Guns N' Roses and a lot of youth like them, I think it will sell great for sure.
