It happened in my lifetime!!!

« on: June 15, 2004, 04:16:17 AM »

I went to see VR at the Celebrity Theatre in PHX on Sunday and I must say it was the most amazing show that I have ever seen in my life.  This was the first time I saw any part of Guns b/c they broke up before my mom would let me go to concerts.  Ill get to the topic title in a minute.

First off, the place was absolutely packed. Not a seat or aisle was empty.  The same guy who used to do the GNR introductions does them for VR so I must ask, who the hell is he?  Anyways, they played pretty much the same set that they have played this whole tour, at least that is my understanding.  So anyways, Slash is amazing live, his stage precence is undeniable.  Scott really does fit with the band.  To be honest I didnt like him on the cd but live he really sets you straight.  although, he is a little "fruity" but i can handle that.  Two really funny things happened at the show.  First Scott brought some kid on the stage and sat him next to the drums.  The kid was playing air drums so everyone thought Scott was celebrating him.  After the song Matt gave him his drum sticks and Scott came over and beraded this kid. He said he threw beer on him and that is disrespecting the band and to get the hell out, or something along those lines.  Slash pretended he was going to knock the guy with his guitar.  The other think was during Sex, Type, Thing, Scott left during the middle of the song and went to the venues rafters, the place isnt huge but it was still crazy.  Slash and Duff just kept laughing b/c they had no idea what he was doing.  The song was like 10 minutes long b/c they just jammed it when he was up there.  It was the best show of my life and I can't wait until they come back.

Oh, and the way they blue balled me is b/c after an encore Matt came out and played the intro of "You Could Be Mine" , my favorite GNR rocker, then he went into "Mr Brownstone".  God what a fucking great show!   ok   Grin
