It's better to burn out than to fade away...

« on: June 11, 2004, 11:52:03 PM »

I just listened to Contraband for the first time.  I had high hopes for "Fall to Pieces", what with all the hype, but in the end, I found far greater satisfaction in the other two ballads, "You Got No Right" and "Loving The Alien".  Both are very melodic and Beatlesque.  But is it just me, or does "Loving the Alien" sound extremely familiar to some song by some Britpop band?  Maybe The Verve with "The Drugs Don't Work", or something like that?  I mean, it's a great song, I'm just saying it sounds familiar to something.  But I can't figure out what exactly.

Holy shit, D, you're right!  The resemblance is uncanny.

Well, it's still currently my favourite of the album's ballads.
